white people say 'I'm not being racist" before going on to say something completely racist. it happens almost everytime without fail.
this is true, but what about those people who you're painting with a very broad brush

This was the exact point I'm making. Dude came in here trying to be all PhD :mjlol:

I was making the same point between 2 posts: white dudes will tell you 'he got in trouble cause he's white and blacks wouldn't' and that same dude will say 'i'm not a racist'. the point is that these people contradict themselves by the second.

Yea that would be racist in the hypothetical. But that's the thing, that's all hypothetical. In hypothetical blacks could all come together and enslave a large group of white people beat em rape them then set up a system to ensure they lack of empowerment. Thing is this has never happened. So to hand white people leverage on they arguments based on hypotheticals is wrong all together

The phrase " racism is racism no matter what" is irresponsible and short sighted. It means well but has no merit. And from a lot of whites it's not even said with good intention it's said out of arrogance and deflection.

Most news media rather trivialize and reduce racism to this kindergarten level for profit and ratings but most importantly to hide the real issues of racism that affect people systematically. Donald sterling is a major news story now but what was never a major news story was the many failed attempts that wealthy black have endured trying to purchase and own franchises either in the nba or nfl. What happens now is the pressure became so great that the nba finally let 1 guy in and then they play the get a rapper as the face of the team game to fool us into thinking we getting some where in ownership. And hell the nfl just ain't letting us in at all period.

Real racism is still rooted in the core of what we came here as, and that's the master slave dynamic. It's cool for dr king to have a dream that little black boys and little white boys can hold hands in unity as long as little white boy got all the economic social and political power

:salute: Great post

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
That's really institutional racism.

But that's all it truly takes right?

Corporations during the hiring process, schools during the enrolling process... prison systems as a whole.

And even on a small scale... there's a gas station that i've been frequenting for about 6 years, but they get this new cac employee.

I've been using the boss man's credit card/corporate purchasing jump to buy shiit for the employees... and the dude decides to card me.

Obviously my face wasn't on the card... but the point is that he saw a minority using an AMERICAN EXPRESS and was under the presumption that
it may have been stolen.

That would NOT have happened if it was another cacarot.

I'ma keep charging these cacs premium dollar for repairs as long as they're white.

Edit: Dont derail this thread duke.

Yeah, I'm not about to go through and quote every post responding to mine because that would have me here forever. My position has never and will never change on this. The notion that blacks are incapable of racism is patently absurd. The whole power plus prejudice talking point is just semantics. There's no doubt that all racism isn't alike, and that historical context is a factor in assessing the severity of certain types of racism, and that the notion of reverse racism is utilized in goofy and dishonest ways. But there are ways to discuss that without changing the definition of racism to an academic talking point. I've known plenty of black racists. Their racism might've been ultimately impotent, but it was still textbook racism.

A basic concept of racism is to believe that your race is superior to others.

Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Whites, etc. all can be racists. Racism comes in many forms.

The fact that 98% of blacks voted for Obama (a black man) in 2008 vs the other candidate is an example of racism in America. You think all those people voted based on his policies or the color of his skin? If a white, hispanic, asian, or indian man had the exact same political ideals running vs. the same candidate, would he garner the same amount of black votes? Not likely.

It's ignorant to say certain races of people can't be racist.

The best way I explain racial tensions to a white person is like this:

Imagine 100 cattle seeing half their herd slaughtered by a pack of wolfs before disappearing into the woods. Then one day a baby wolf walks up to a baby cow and says "Why are you cows so afraid of us? We don't kill anymore"

The baby cow responds "We are not afraid of you, we just know who you are. YOU ARE A WOLF. You didn't stop killing because you care, you only stopped because you were full'".

Once a wolf, always a wolf. Once an oppressive group of people, then that is how it will always be.

This is one (of many) reasons racism is never going anywhere. No one wants to be held accountable for their bullshyt. "I can't be a racist I don't have political power." :dahell:

What's next? Women can't be sexist?
Bold is why there will always be some type of ism and stuff going on. Its messed up but as long as people are around groups of people that let their wild thinking go unchecked this is what you will have.

This is weak. 90% of black people vote the for the Democratic candidate in every election. All of a sudden it's racism when that candidate is black. :what: I agree that anybody can be racist but that was an awful, awful example.

This is really ignorant.

If the black vote was split 60/40 in favor of Obama does that mean that 60% of black voters were racists? What about Bush/Gore or Bush/Kerry? Who were black voters being racists against then?

Why is it simply racism because the overwhelming majority voted for Obama?

rac·ism
noun \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\
: poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race

: the belief that some races of people are better than others

i'll read through the rest of the thread in a sec, but I stopped to quote this because this is racism, plain and simple...when people try to change that def into something else is more hurtful than helpful, and it lets a lot of people get away with that way of thinking....now, institutionalized racism, meaning having power, connections, finances, clout, etc. to put behind your thoughts/feelings/beliefs and affect others lives(physically, mentally, financially) which SS described in his tweet is arguably the scariest manifestation/form of racism, but it's just that, it's not the only true/real racism...
