No one should have to watch for assaults. But if you're in the immediate vicinity of escalate parties who are shouting, cussing, have to be separated and you think "I'll just close my eyes and pretend everything is fine, that should keep me safe." Then yes, I am victim blaming and by you choosing not to defend yourself or remove yourself from that situation you deserve to be hit with a chair, punched, kicked, stomped, shot, stabbed, hit by a car, burned...whatever the immediate situation calls for that your dumb ass chose to disregard.

Imagine being in a store where someone starts shooting and think "I'm just going to continue shopping, I shouldn't have to be watching out for people doing this stuff." Instead of leaving, hiding, protecting yourself.
