Yea Im more focused on encouraging black men to be involved in building up unity between each other so, if they wish, they can approach politicians as a unified front. Whether that be to demand something of the politicians if they want our vote, OR lobbying the politicians financially to do what we want. OR, choosing a candidate from within our ranks to do our bidding...
You know, rather than just doing what we've been doing for the last 60 years which hasnt gotten us the progress we seek. We've come from times where black people were used as alligator bait so Im not fearful of any man in power based off where we have come from...
You and your army of empowered and unified Black Men will be ready to demand things from Trump by 2020?

I think everyone talks different depending on their demographics. She sees it as down talking to black people but I bet that same rich liberal politician dumbs it down for the rural areas too. poor people tend to not trust city, rich, highly educated speakers due to their historical tendencies of exploitation. best way to relate is to talk as though a coworker at the mill.

i can relate to the frustration. i grew up in crime ridden areas and low performing schools. i understand why it's like this though. not as simple as pointing the finger at the mayor or local district rep. need to understand how state funds get allocated. for example in georgia, the mayor of atlanta has been black for as long as i can remember. but the governor of the state has been hardcore republican for the past 20 years or so. how state funds get distributed are determined by the republican controlled state legislature. so while it's easy to say we have a black mayor and it's on them, it's not that simple. i can say it would be worse if we had a republican mayor of atl. the difference in low and higher income areas would be even larger.
people also forget to acknowledge that some of these state judges and law enforcement leadership are elected. i don't trust any police or judge, but we can get them out if the are fukking up. we need to flex on em, but again it takes commitment.
there's some truth to that. it's also true that they know it's easy to placate and provide empty promises because many of us don't stay engaged. we also don't do the knowledge to understand all the forces at work, hence people say we have a black mayor but shyt ain't better. they don't know that the dem black mayor is fighting for what we get but since we don't vote out the racist leadership in all the other areas it won't get better.
we don't have to accept any of those circumstances. why let them control the narrative of successful black men? also to be fair i see a lot of successful black men making a difference out here.
but to your point college athletics is a sham. they get used and tossed. we need to buck to make sure we get what we went there for (an education and connections!) then politic that back to our peoples.
partially true, but partially not. lots of brehs make it in jobs that aren't glamorous. they raise their families. but we do have to beat the odds to do so, you have a point. but my point is sometimes we make bad decisions because we think short term and think there aren't any good options. idolizing the wrong life examples being promoted by people who don't have our best interest in mind.
the alternative seems to be don't do shyt about it and complain. or as some brehs put it, just let babylon burn. thing is the only thing that will burn is our shyt. then the rest get stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty and incarceration.
my point is we need to stand for something and do it consistently. when we were flexing our economic and political muscles in the 50s and 60s they were scared to death that we would "figure it out" and rise up. enter gov sponsored hits of our strong black leaders and cointelpro to destroy the next generation of leaders. we got to keep doing the knowledge so we can win. we need to have that i'm gon eat mentality no matter what. i don't see that right now and that is infuriating.
