Social media changed the game. The first year Facebook was largely adopted by adults who were not college students it was ready being blamed for 30% of new divorces at the time.

People keep old flames at arms reach and keep tabs. Keep contact etc. The sanctity of marriage has been violated. We have too many tools for intrusion into each others lives. And a lot of us has less of a moral code than our previous generations thus it was a repice for disaster.

Because they don't get any attention, imagine if one guy does give her the attention.
Ugly girls can easily be swept off their feet because they don't get approached much.
