Great. The study lends credence to what I've long suspected to be true.
The problem is not that black males are always portrayed as "bad", it's that the portrayals are one dimensional. For example, you rarely see black males portrayed as scientists and engineers. And while this reflects reality, it severely limits the aspirations of young black men who spend a great deal of time watching TV.

It's a white majority country, obviously tv is going to be biased in favor towards them.

Black characters are often times: house nikkas, weak, thug stereotypes, ass kissers etc.

That's why i don't think it's healthy to let black kids watch much tv, that shyt needs to be monitored heavily by the parents(which is another battle in itself)

I was in South Africa 3 years ago, and watching their channels you'd think you were viewing German television even though South Africa is 80% black and only 9% cac. All the shows were about successful white people (majority) or black dysfunction (the few that featured black people as main characters), and there was even a sketch comedy show featuring an all non-black team (about six whites and one Indian), and this Indian coolie fukk was dressed up in blackface drag blatantly making fun of Xhosa women in the most racist, disgusting way I think I've ever seen on 2010's television . It has nothing to do with demographics, white people just love white people and don't want non-whites on TV.

I enjoyed watching television as a kid because it was an escape from reality. I still use it as a relaxing escape from reality. The self esteem is more about which type of stuff people are choosing to watch. Actually interacting with people in person had more of an affect on my self esteem than watching television.

It's these depressed, lonely, hermit ass nikkas wanting everyone to feel as bad as them.

Yes, I can deny that. I don't know what the fukk yall watched coming up, but apparently our cable packages varied greatly. As for that silly ass "If you were and 8 yr old black male" you know what the fukk I watched when I was an 8 yr old black male. Bobby's World, Tiny Toons, Doug, shyt LIKE THAT. I wasn't looking for a confidence boost at 8. Ya know why, CAUSE I WAS fukkING 8. I wasn't thinking about that shyt. People love coming up with these psychoanalysis of peoples behavior,all it does is give people a list of things they can blame for they behavior when truth is most people don't know why they are how they are,or why they do what they do....if you cant explain yourself why wouldn't you blame one of the many excuses given to you on a platter "I think its the rap music".

Theres usually a large number of reasons for somebodys behavior,when somebody tries to pinpoint one thing it usually means they have an agenda....Studies like this are typically just distractions and a decoy that steers away from the many larger issues at hand imo.
