anyone more advice?
Yes! Make sure to buy "For Dummies" books are your local Barnes and Nobles or Books-a-Million store.
Also there is a book series called "Demystified" It's basically a text book(only smaller) full of instructions, practice problems and exams. They have books in areas such as Advanced Physics,Precalculus,Calculus and many more! I used them and they help way more than my college textbooks.
Also they are way cheaper! Hope this helps!

coursera.org and edux is where you can get all the free classes you want, its hard to beat

for specific questions mathisfun.com and purplemath.com

i dont do it as much but i worked for tutor.com and they are legit, they can help you with anything one on one but you have to pay, a lot

Follow these steps if you want to succeed:
1.Find out what math course you'll be taking, whether its precac or algebreh
2. Find the book your school uses.
3. Download the pdf, from a torrent site.
4. Buy the previous edition of the book off amazon for under $30
5.Start doing problems
6. Cop a chegg account to make sure you're doing them right, and youtube things you're unclear about
7. Practice doing problems over and over, until you become really quick at doing them.
8.Succeed. :win:

The sooner you start this, the better off you'll be.

good ideas, i was about to add that people need to understand that places like khan academy do not teach you math, khan academy is simply a great reference tool, it helps you if you are taking a math class and/or need to be reminded about something you forgot but to learn math you have to do a lot of math problems

not true. khan academy can teach you math. anyone saying otherwise has not used it correctly. now i will agree its a great supplement. But isnt anything a great supplement when paired with more info?

Khan does something that most people just wont do. thats create problems and devise a curriculum around those problems so you know what key part of math you are good at and what parts you need work on.

let me prove the point.

math class in middle school/high school goes like this depending on your teacher.

teacher comes into class. discusses subject matter. most math teachers are not that great at teaching math. they are great at doing math problems themselves. this is a known fact when it comes to this subject.

if you get lucky nothing can beat a great math teacher. not online, nor any book and self study.

so we're talking about the average math teacher thats out there.

he/she comes in to class early in the semester. and has everyone take an assessment(this is if the teacher is smart. some dont do this)
now the teacher knows where everyone is on the spectrum of the subject. so the teacher now knows what parts to focus on more to strengthen the students so you can move quicker thru other parts.

This is the part that khan and others like it do well. They wont let you just skip along until you have mastered that section. in real class if its a new week you're in a new section regardless if YOu personally understood it or not. class should not be taught this way but it is more times then not in america.

khan will keep you from having large gaps in your math knowledge. this alone will turn you into a much better math student going forward.

khan will have you practicing problems. a lot of them. until you get it. a lot of regular problems and then WORD problems(which is thee most scary thing for people who dont think they're good at math).

on top of that they have the videos as a reference(like your teacher in class).

Now i dare someone to have gone thru all of khans math sections from 2+2 all the way to calculus equations and say they didnt learn what they were taught and what they went over. I'll wait until i see that happen before i say khan isnt where its at.

now if you want even more practice. find more problems(again this is obvious).

What I said is that the only way to learn math is through doing problems

Anybody that has gone through the khan academy videos would fail a test that was given afterword

Unless they do a bunch of actual problems

Khan academy is great, but it's simply a great reference tool, that's all it is

Khan Academy does not replace book learning :stopitslime:

It might be good for introductory topics or supplementation I suppose, but that shyt never helped me in any real classes.

But there are some good youtube accounts that I referenced in the past. Like patrickjmt, but the point of math and science isn't about even about passing and getting the correct answer but more or less training your brain how to critically think.

I'd say give OASC a try for the math portion if you are trying to get ready for math in college. You'll get a good understanding of what your weaknesses are and even a tailored math program to help work on the weak areas. Now granted the site is for military members yet surely you are creative enough to make up something to get through the registration process. http://www.nelnetsolutions.com/skil...ponsor=47599&referer_type=BK&test_id=203&ct=8

Khan Academy, and also a structured online course can be found at coursera. Both great resources for learning for free before you pay for a course. Coursera is crack because it has a real classes with deadlines and lectures taught by professors at actual big universities that put lesson plans online.

oh i see. you're talking strictly videos only. i agree. its like you cant learn math by watching your teacher run his/her mouth all day. its not about just memorizing things and thats it. its not a history class.

what i was talking about is Khan academy the website and use their actual tools. not just the videos. the videos are now incorporated into the other tools(problems). if you're having problems you can watch a short video to help you learn the concept or get more clarity on the concept then get back to problem solving like you said. each new section starts off with a video(lesson). i would advise watch it first. even if you THINK you know it. you never know he may show you another way to do things that you did not learn before. there is more than one way to do math problems. but you already know this.
