This is such a dumb take. Trump didn't only empower racist extremists through his rhetoric. He appointed them to federal agencies. And they used those positions to dismantle policies designed to eliminate discrimination. He had racists at the head of the DOJ and as his advisors. He even nominated racist judges. Just being aware of something is meaningless without anything behind it.

You have to go into a life saving surgery. Would you rather your doctor be an overt racist or a covert racist?

If my life is immediately on the line and it's a choice between trusting care from a "liberal" hospital that celebrates diversity, acknowledges racism, commits to equal care, commits to diversity hiring, and presents themselves as a welcoming place for all, vs the hospital ran by conservative hicks who support Trump, or DeSantis, and believe right wing bullshyt about black rioters.

My grandmother’s eye doctor in South Carolina was one of those covert racists cowards love. He not only cost my grandmother her sight from all his years of “treatment” but also hundreds of Black people like her, when he was ultimately exposed.
