Im missing where Dre fell off though:heh:...maybe people just look at fell off differently, ill give u Lil Wayne,he came out the gate big and his success regressed and it looked like he would just be a kid rapper who couldn't make the cut as an adult. Nas I wouldn't say fell off either, maybe as far as perception but success wise he was comin off a plat album and "You Owe Me" which made noise. Cube had a greater comeback with Laugh Now Cry Later,at least he was comin off a long hiatus. Comin fresh off a dud and other nikkas shinin more than u I don't know if I can call that a comeback. If that's the case we'd have to call LIG a comeback bcuz he came off a string of duds imo and that album made noise.

Dre fell off with the Aftermath album. yeah, he didn't do many beats on there and it's not "his" album but after California Love he had lackluster collabos (Nas Is Coming, The Firm) and he was out of the Hip Hop eye for a few years. Ras Kass didn't have a hit with Ghetto Fabulous

even tho the beat is fire IMO

this is what really brought him back into the game

If coming out of retirement and still being successful counts, there has to be mention of Jay-Z and Too Short.

It's very hard to comeback in hip hop and in music in general. If you're lucky you'll get 2 to 3 hot years and then slowly fade to irrelevance as someone else takes your spot.

Think of all the rappers who were hot in 2004 and where are most of them right now?

Everywhere...You never there.
why has noone said the goat comeback ever? :usure: especially big mel...you better than this

I was gonna say LL definitely...

I don't wanna confuse "comeback" and "reinvention" ...but the two arent necessarily mutually exclusive. There's overlap there and one often precedes the other.

With that said...

As an overall entertainer and media personality, Queen Latifah's reinvention was — and continues to be — epic.

Not really a comeback because she wasn't a huge rap star in that era, but well known and respected.

But the way she reinvented herself has been ... :banderas:

it continues to amaze me how Latifah gets these roles in things like Ice Age and other movies. people don't even know she was a rapper at all.

Word. She literally transformed. I've always said she has some of the best handlers and PR folks because her rap history has damn near been erased and/or non-existent to her recent, core audience.

This is same woman who went from throwing up a black fist beside mother Africa running with FLAVA UNIT and Treach's people out in Jersey ...

...to putting out a Grammy nominated Jazz album, leading a daytime talk show and starring in the uber whitewashed movies...

:mindblown:

Ladies First. :salute:

...and the thing is she's just getting going.

I think LL Cool J, 50 Cent (he was getting blackballed and still came back better than ever), Nas and 2Chainz are the best answers you could give...

the point about latifah is very good as well
