I'm cool with Mudiay at 4. I'm sick of hearing about Phil (who isn't coaching) not liking traditional PG's. Listen, any offense needs a playmaker/facilitator. It's not a triangle rule that that player can't be the PG. Jax had been lucky enough during his 11 rings that he had facilitators that defended other positions (Mike, Kobe, Odom, Pip). That's it. That's the difference. They played the essential PG role but could defend 1-4. And only Odom could match up with 4's. Prob Pip too to a lesser extent. And Mud goes 6'5 200. Sounds like the prototypical type the triangle experts claim Phil (who isn't coaching) likes.
But uh....:patrice:
After watching film on this Payne kid....I wouldn't be mad if we could turn the 4 pick and parts into him and WCS. :yeshrug:

Exactly let's not act like you can't put different positions in different roles the triangle has had a dominat SG/SF combo, a dominant C/SG combo so why wouldn't a PG/SF combo work...Not saying that #4 will be a superstar PG.

but imho if they draft a Mudiay sign a Monroe and Danny Green

C:Monroe/Barga
PF:Melo/Smith
SF:Carroll/Early
SG:Green/THjr/Sved
PG:Calderon/mudiay

Or

C:Koufous
PF:Monroe
SF:Melo
SG:Green
PG:Calderon

Just some potential lineups

So it's been a little over a month since there was any activity in this thread and I feel like it's time for a rant.

This franchise is shyt, absolute shyt. I've been telling people for about 10 years now that the Lakers and the Knicks will not be able to hold on to their "destination" status like they were able to in decades past. The world just doesn't work like that anymore and as long as you are in the NBA and can build a team from the ground up in a smart manner you will attract fans from all over. What we are witnessing is a shift in communication taking effect, money can be earned pretty well all over the country and your appeal can reach the globe regardless of franchise if you are good enough. Just saying you are playing for the Knicks is not enough anymore and the old mentality some of these cats at the top have is the reason why this franchise is in the shape that it is in.

The Knicks need a complete overhaul from management and a few more terrible seasons to secure top picks in the draft. I have calmed down a bit on Porzingis because he might turn out to be a solid pick. The problem with the Knicks is that they can't go crazy desperate to build a team full of overpaid average players...which is exactly what the Knicks are doing now. I wouldn't have mind to see this team be bottom of the league bad for 2-3 more years and secure top 1-4 picks.

Afflalo? Robin Lopez? You have got to be shytting me here brehs. Listen, these guys are solid NBA players but they are not game changers by any stretch of the imagination. Will they help the Knicks? Sure, our roster was filled with D-League talent most of last season. It won't get us a top 3 seed in the east though unless Carmelo decides to share the ball. Look at what the Timberwolves did...they knew that building for the future was key...Kevin Love wasn't going to elevate them to championship status so they traded him away for 2 #1 picks (1 bust) and secured the top pick with Karl-Anthony Towns. This is exactly what the Knicks should TRY to do, but this incompetent ass franchise will not let go of Carmelo Anthony because he is "box office" and in an effort to sell more tickets now and deal with the consequences later has been the problem for decades already :snoop:

I wanted the Knicks to sign Lin, but it was probably the best move to not sign him because I would assume that Carmelo would be counting his money on the new deal signed as well. It looks like we are stuck with Calderon running the point :francis:

I bet Lin does well in Dallas if they end up signing him :snoop:

Getting rid of Carmelo is the key, get rid of that nikka ASAP. But Knick fans get in their feelings when you suggest trading that dude. He is not a superstar, you cannot build a championship team around that dude.
