Local food banks are always good choices.

Getting healthy food out to people is very important
Not really,
most local food banks receive government funding. and the government also has many programs in place to feed the hungry.
The food scarcity/ hunger issue has effectively been solved already using our tax dollars.
You'd be better served directing people in need to the proper programs/shelters. The funding is already there in this country.
The are other causes that are in dire need of more funding/donations, like schools, emergency housing and things like that.

No hate to those who still choose to donate. its a good thing regardless. Just the are causes that are a greater need of donations than others. Hunger is at the very bottom of the list in the united states.

This is my go to org.

I just finished lending to a successful Kiva campaign for a Black business in the US.

Capracare - Haiti donations. A little goes a long way when you send money out of the US.

Food bank. Specifically one that doesn’t require ID or a designated zip code.
This, local women and children's shelter as well, any big charity most of the money is being stolen or used to keep the charity operational via paying staff, and never donate anything to those cocksuckers at Value Village (known as Savers in some regions) the donate only the legal minimum required of them and they sell the donated items often above the price youd pay for it new
