Jigga with the Roley and the Vest

Then laffy taffy dropped afterward and lowered the bar even further. Granted Stefani had a catchy song....but summer 2005 marked a huge shift in urban radio, imo that set the stage for 10yrs.

Edit..i remember that summer was all jeezys..... rethought the time period.. think you might be right but i thought laffy taffy got hotter later in the year.:jbhmm:

I don't see how "Hollaback Girl" is Gwen Stefani being a culture vulture. When I think of "culture vulture" I think of outsiders coming in and stealing styles, images, looks, and music. Not only stealing it, but eating off it and not paying homage or giving credit back to what they bit off of and ate from.

"Hollaback Girl" opened up the lane for "Promiscuous" and "London Bridge" which also got a fair amount of play on Urban radio. I guess you could blame that song for "Fancy" getting play on Urban stations as well.

Eve had already tapped her to feature on "Let Me Blow Your Mind" years before "Hollaback Girl". She was already dressing like that before she went solo:

No Doubt already had a Neptunes produced single before Gwen came out with one as a solo artist.

@JustCKing
actually, eve used her as a feature and she was a SINGER

then pharrell made her rap and she made money off it.

please dont argue with me about GWEN when you dont even remember her ska shyt and the first time they played her on mtv

And again, how does what you're saying here coincide with your previous claims? You claimed she was a culture vulture and then didn't offer up anything to back up the claim. Then when I addressed why I didn't think she wasn't, you came back with look at how she dressed in the videos for that album vs. how she dressed in the press during the same period. Okay:

I'm not a big enough fan of her's to have been following what she did in the early 90's with No Doubt. I didn't really pay attention to her until she did the song with Eve and No Doubt went towards a more Hip Hop sound.
