This was right when the West coast wasn't putting out much at all...our radio stations were dominated by Atlanta and other Southern music. Some of it was cool but I can permanently do without stuff like Lean Wit it Rock Wit it and all those other ringtone tracks from that era.
I'm only talking about urban radio...litterally black radio personalities in black populated sections of the country.
I can't believe I caught some negs for this thread. I was driving a lot for my summer job in 2005. Lost count of black women calling up 92q asking for hollaback girl!!!! Then i switch to wpgc or wkys to see what they playing donw there and it was the same stuff, lol. btween 92q, wpgc, wkys they stayed playing that song and it was the #1 athem on one of those statations by the end of the summer. Mid sumer it was being called a hollaback summer, lol.
hell, sohh had a thread talking about this song taking over the air waves and clowning the lyrics. Black women stayed calling up for this song! it was catchy and a nice beat talking ish to us guys....but Black women in 2005 made it an urban radio fixture!
