Water activities
Sightseeing
Bars
Nightlife

I want to see the gum wall, space needle, fremont troll etc....

My wife wants to cruise to Alaska from Seattle so we are thinking about that too.

Hiking
About 30 minutes east of Seattle there are a handful of places to hike. The most popular is probably Rattlesnake Ridge.

The waterfall is Snoqualmie Falls. It's a easy walk to do the bottom of the falls. The mountain in the background is Mt. Si. You there are 2 hikes on the mountain big and little. About 30 minutes east of Seattle.

Water activities
This is Lake Union just north of downtown. It's popular for paddle boarding or kayaking. In this picture you see 2 other bodies of water. Lake Washington to the left and the Puget Sound to the right. Lake Washington is popular for boating and swimming. Lake Union runs into the Puget Sound and Lake Washington

Also a popular water spot and one of the best views of Seattle. West Seattle/Alki Beach

Discovery Park and Golden Gardens are also good for water, exploring, scenic views.

Sightseeing
Most people go to the Space Needle, but the best view of Seattle is the Columbia Tower.

Space Needle- The surrounding area and Queen Anne. You can also catch the monorail from the space needle to downtown for only a couple dollars one way.
Pikes Place Market- Original Starbucks, throwing of the fish, gum wall, small restaurants, and booths to walk around and look at.
Mariners/Sounders games in the Summer

Don't know much about the cruise to Alaska. Never done, but my stepmom did it. If you don't want to go to Alaska you can catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands, Bainbridge Island, Whidbey Island. You can also catch a ferry to Victoria, BC. I haven't done since I was a kid, but it's something I'm trying to do again. The ferry is about 3 hours.
Vancouver BC is also a 3 hour drive north and Portland is a 3 drive south.

As far as restaurants. We have a little bit of everything. We are known for our fish and Asian cuisine.

I'm too old and out of the game so don't know where to go anymore for bars and nightlife. :yeshrug:

I'm from NY, but I'm moving out west for my masters. 100% taking a trip out there when I do. If it's good money, I might stay.

If youre from the eastern seaboard then seattle will be a cakewalk for you. Youre already used to the idea of commuting into the city but living some ways away (especially cuz anything in Seattle is rape prices). I came from a smaller town so Im still adjusting to using public transit.

Be advised tho, the weather here from november-april is suicide inducing though.

Nah you can keep all that rain :scust:

Haven't seen rain in over 50+ days.

Major US cities that get over 45 inches (1143 millimeters) of precipitation a year

  1. New Orleans, Louisiana, 62.7 inches (1592 millimeters)
  2. Miami, Florida, 61.9 in. (1572 mm)
  3. Birmingham, Alabama, 53.7 in. (1364 mm)
  4. Memphis, Tennessee, 53.7 in. (1364 mm)
  5. Jacksonville, Florida, 52.4 in. (1331 mm)
  6. Orlando, Florida, 50.7 in. (1289 mm)
  7. New York, New York, 49.9 in. (1268 mm)
  8. Houston, Texas, 49.8 in. (1264 mm)
  9. Atlanta, Georgia, 49.7 in. (1263 mm)
  10. Nashville, Tennessee, 47.3 in. (1200 mm)
  11. Providence, Rhode Island, 47.2 in. (1198 mm)
  12. Virginia Beach, Virginia, 46.5 in. (1182 mm)

Large US cities where it rains or snows on more than 130 days each year

  1. Rochester, New York, 167 days
  2. Buffalo, New York, 167 days
  3. Portland, Oregon, 164 days
  4. Cleveland, Ohio, 155 days
  5. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 151 days
  6. Seattle, Washington, 149 days
  7. Columbus, Ohio, 139 days
  8. Cincinnati, Ohio, 137 days
  9. Miami, Florida, 135 days
  10. Detroit, Michigan, 135 days
It rains here, but there are a lot cities with worse weather to deal with. We get practically zero snow and our rainy days are very dull. We get a lot of cloudy days though.
