hes going to get a max offer during RFA and the Suns will almost certainly match

they are just trying to penny pinch now for whatever reasons

is the max Ayton can get from other teams less than the full max the Suns can offer now?

CP3 as the difference maker for Phoenix more than anything else is what I'm referring to.

My only issue in their logic is that whether you pay him now or pay him next year, then there's nothing stopping him from becoming a Whiteside/Bynum once he gets his money. You either want to take that gamble or you don't

I'm guessing that they just don't want to max him in general and have apprehension about doing so. The thing is, if they don't max him out then another team will. If they match it, then they would have created internal drama for no reason.

They have until 6pm Eastern time to come up on an agreement, so they could still always do it at the last minute.
