Suns pursuing trade for Iman Shumpert

I'd do the deal in a heartbeat, the fact the Knicks have Smith and Brewer makes Shumpert a bit expendable in my opinion. If the Knicks are truly committed to playing Melo at the 4, then Dudley makes sense because he's a knockdown shooter and is a 3 that doesn't need the ball to score. I think Dudley and a pick is a good comeup, especially since the Knicks don't have any draft picks for the next 35 years.

I'd do it, Shumpert could be replaced this summer, Tony Allen is a unrestricted FA and Memphis clearly has their mind on money issues.

I agree. A lotta people gonna disagree with me for saying this, but I feel like Shump's popularity rose even when he was hurt because he's an engaging dude off the court. He's young and obviously has a lot of potential, but dude's ceiling might be a bit overstated. Considering where we're playing Melo, and the fact that this would be our best chance at getting a high first rounder for the foreseeable future, I'd at least consider the deal.

Eh, he's going to be defending out of position in the playoffs, I don't think he's going to be that great against natural 3s. The East has a lot of capable Small Forwards, and while Dudley isn't a great defender he doesn't give up as much size as Shumpert.

Yeah I dont want to give up shump but this is the first time I'm hearing about a 1st rd pick being thrown into the mix

If we could swing a slightly more elaborate deal that would net us dudley, morris, and that 1st rd pick I'd probably pull the trigger.

That's the problem, but Woodson clearly has no intention on moving him out of the starting lineup it seems.

If Shump was at the 2, then I would send this deal onto the bushes. But if we keep using Shump at the 3, then he would be a liability out there.

Dudley at SF is basically a better version of Brewer, and also we would get a first round pick from a team whose record is in the toilet. What's not to consider?

I mean right now Shump is not even being used right and is not playing with any confidence. I would contemplate the proposed deal if I were the Knicks.

I'm not selling him short as oppose to other posters in the forum. I myself mentioned that I would consider doing the deal. Especially if we get a first round pick out of it.
