this isn't like basketball where qb vs qb has any real bearing considering they don't play against each other.
He didn't beat "mahommes" he beat the chiefs just like Dart didn't just beat Hurts he beat the eagles.

Eagles fans said Hurts was Top 2/3 after he won the Superbowl so of course he's going to get scrutinized like one.

Torched Kansas City by 40 something points with SF’s defense having Mahomes run around all day like a wild chicken, ESPN & Sportscenter would be calling Purdy elite and he’d be in the top 5. Nobody would be but but Mayfield is better but but Herbert is better but but Jordan Love is better. If Purdy threw a 50 yard bomb to Deebo to ice the game, that shyt would be all over ESPN.
They were itching to put Purdy in those conversations and if that happened, they would have. With Hurts, instead of giving him his due respect, it’s been nothing but pure haterade.
Hurts had the game of his life in the super bowl, so the elite convos were valid.

uh, nah. Read our thread. Nobody in the Niners thread thinks Purdy is "elite" he got overpaid because that's the going rate in the NFL for QBs that have proven to play well over the course of 2-3 seasons. He's not top tier nor does he suck. The arguments have been more around whether he "sucks" and he doesn't, he's fine.

I think ppl also forget this was a big talking point last year. This isnt new. Before the superbowl multiple threads were made last year on their offense.

This is you guys' viewpoint, it isn't mine. The quarterback directly plays the other team's defense but QB match upside have been marketed as QB v QB for a long, long time because mf's recognize that indirectly and holistically they are playing against each other. You're measuring one QBs performance vs the others, quarterbacks understand this.This isn't a personal shot at you, just a general statement.
The QBs don't play against each other. Please stop with this. Burrow is 1-1 versus the CHIEFS. Hurts is 1-1 versus the CHIEFS.
This isn't a difficult concept to grasp and yet somehow we make it to 2025 and guys are still arguing that the quarterback isn't competing vs the other team's quarterback
I mean if that's the case, award season doesn't make sense, how can I be the best quarterback at anything if there was no Pro Bowl type QB-skills drill? I shouldn't be able to win MVP over another guy, because I did all that to defenses, whereas the next guy played 15 different defenses.
The two best QBs so far this year have been Mayfield and Goff. They have a MNF game coming up later this season, but their performance in said game shouldn't matter because they aren't actually playing each other

Being the NFL leader in TD passes or any other stat, why is it even relevant, when guys aren't throwing those TDs vs the same defenses? Why are QB yards and TDs, etc, even a point of comparison? They aren't throwing those TDs on each other
Just watch the game, you can never actually tell who the better QB is unless there's a skills drill or something.
The basketball analogy doesn't work either because you aren't being consistent. In basketball you are playing against the other team's defense and 99% of the time, the other team's best player isn't the one guarding you. You knew that, or do you not watch basketball? Or should we shift and say, you really can't tell who the better hooper is, because they scored points vs different defenses and didn't guard each other?

the QB doesn't play the other one directly, but they are absolutely facing each other and are measured by the performance they put up on the same field as the opposing QB. Yall know this, though, its not a new revelation. You're free to watch it however you want to, though!
