Super late but this tomb raider might be the best single player this gen

Even the puzzles are epic...without spoiling the game...I'm just gonna say "the queen" discovery.....the way they did that "puzzle" was epic and looks amazing visually

i mean Tomb Raider is a good game the games i listed are great games. Tomb Raider has no business being mentioned in the same sentence as any of them. in fact it actually heavily borrows concepts and lifts whole ideas from the last three games i listed. outside of graphics it doesn't do anything better than any of them really.

most of those games i listed were game of the year winners. not only that but they're some of the best games this generation. Tomb Raider isn't seriously gonna win any game of the year awards in fact in about two weeks a game is gonna hit that's gonna squash whatever minuscule chances it had of seeing one.

at comparing Metacritic scores. shyt makes no sense. By that logic "Tomb Raider" got an 87% with half the reviews it took "Uncharted 2" to get 96%. Does that mean it's actually better than "Uncharted 2"? What kinda logic are we using here to determine what's better based on these scores?

Uncharted 2 is in my top 3 single player games so far BTW(this gen). When I finish this game we'll see if it goes to the 3rd spot. As of right now it seems that way lol.

I just didn't find anything "HOLY shyt THATS EPIC!" about it so far. The game is great and I like it but I just can't get with the "best game this gen" talk. Is it that bad over there on the xbox that a title similar to Uncharted got people swooning over it?

They only doing that because ever since the first Uncharted game people have used Tomb Raider to tear it down and dismiss it...Calling it "Dude Raider" and shyt. It cooled for a bit post UC2 but when the Tomb Raider reboot was announced it started back up again.

Not necessarily. I never got into the whole UC vs TR thing as I just enjoyed UC games especially 2. Throughout playing this game, I haven't once cared about any of the cast or what may happen to them. When dude at the end got killed from the hatchet, I barely reacted. Likewise in Uncharted, i felt and cared about all the characters even the villain. Lazervich was WAY more charismatic than whoever the hell is commanding these mindless drones in TR. The cast is so prosaic in this game that I don't even remember their names.

I still remember most of the people throughout the Uncharted franchise not because I studied them but because they actually felt real. Max Payne 3's cast and recently Far Cry 3 suffer from imo boring characters. Only other game that had good supporting cast was in the Mass Effect series although that game you had to delve a bit into some character's background to understand them more.



I felt more emotion and life in this scene alone than in throughout TR's whole campaign. I know plenty of you will beg to differ but the Uncharted actors are very realistic and seem almost as if it's not scripted. Everything in TR felt lackluster acting wise compared to this. It must be a Naughty Dog thing because their characters just are alive on the screen.
The characters are a bit too been there done that for me. It feels like it's a parody of a better game sometimes.


I know I have a Kaz avatar and am notorious for defending Uncharted a lot on here ,but I'll call a spade a spade. Tomb Raider is not on Uncharted's level yet. They need to fix the stupid AI, bland supporting cast and maybe make a few more inventive setpieces. Uncharted has dumb AI also such as being able to stealth kill someone RIGHT behind another enemy and them not noticing what's going on. Also having copious amounts of arrows further exacerbate my complaint of how easy the game feels most of the time. Also for crying out loud, cut down on the QTE's. This shyt had more QTE's than Shenmue. Almost every single time I had to mash a button to fend off a dog or shake a guy off of me. I shouldn't be following on screen prompts every 20 minutes.

The typical bridges blowing up and falling down slopes and hills are so cliche nowadays. Tomb Raider doesn't need to try to be like Uncharted though. To many times where Lara fell off a cliff and held on with a finger I just felt like rolling my eyes. I seen it for 3 games I don't want to see it again.

The lats TR game I played was that isometric view one guardian of light. I liked the whole puzzle aspect and whatnot. THAT game was great.
