It cuts in to alcohol profits. Believe it or not there are people who still don't smoke because it's illegal.

Weed has been de facto legal in the Netherlands, and beer remains ultra popular there (probably much more so, except among tourists who go there for weed).

So I don't think the alcohol companies have anything to worry about.

Uncertain grounds
Yes in the end bernie is just too nice and tol concerned about being polarizing (his weakness with black voters) to carry out the revolution context of his campaign.

He fell for the calls for civility and fell for the media/establishment keeping him on the defensive.

I think a successful progressive will have to advance like trump as a republican outsider: press their case with no qualms about what gets destroyed in their wake. Unafraid to piss off political colleagues and opponents, unlike bernie who defended Biden in debates from Steyer and was still called divisive.

Conversely the appetite for revolution isnt quite there and people arent smart enough to change course at the precipice. Folks will have to suffer en masse for things to change :yeshrug:

He cant call for revolution on one hand then p*ssyfoot and not attack his main competitor who was instrumental in the system hes trying to revolutionize.

I voted for John Kerry, Obama, Obama, Hillary. You aren't talking about "the bigger picture" you're talking about indefinitely keeping the status quo going because you fear the alternative.

People like you are the reason we're in this mess because at the end of the day you'll vote for whoever the democratic party tells you to instead of demanding the democratic party put forth a candidate that's worthy of your vote. When the next progressive candidate comes along and talks of destroying the status quo the establishment will snuff them and put up another stooge and you'll vote for them too. You'll repeat that pattern for the rest of your life.

These apologist and shamers come along and try to push people into voting for these crappy candidates on some it's better than X shyt and nobody really takes the stand for real change.

Joe Biden isn't real change. He's just another puppet for the rich elite.
Seriously. I don't understand why someone could be excited for Joe Biden. Could someone honestly tell me why they're excited for him? How will he improve your life for the better? Because I'm drawing a blank.

you have no stats to back any of that up. It's just hearsay.

Lol that is poor business thinking. Legalizing weed does nothing help the alcohol industry and just hurts it. They will lobby it.

We're seeing what happens when a campaign completely ignores the last democrat president's staffers/analysts and decides to take a dump instead. Just like Hillary in 2008, Bernie thought he could ignore the south and win big in big states. That's not how you win...
Aside from that, he also thought he and his surrogates could berate the majority of the party he was supposed to be hoping to lead, for years.

He already had a fanatical cult that would do whatever he wished, he had no need to rile them further. This cycle he should have been trying to appeal to the other 2/3rds of the party.

All in all, the progressive movement lost the moment he decided to make it about himself in December 2016 instead of immediately grooming a younger replacement to build the movement.

I'm trying to focus on the public option and judges.
