Its not absurd to them b/c there's hundreds of millions of dollars at stake w/ the Redskins name.

Let's just say that in this day & age, several hundred million $$$ >>>>>> a small amount of people's feelings.
I see this as more of a pride thing on Snyders part than about money. Think about it...they can flip a name change into more money. New team name, new colors...now you have created a whole new product for licensing. The fans who copped Redskins stuff now gotta cop all the new team stuff. And all Redskins paraphernalia goes way up in value.
