It could have potential. I think Gunn is going to be able to put together an interesting script that'll be able to make Supergirl come across likeable and relatable.
Don't know the route of mass appeal the actress has, but seems to have a decent social media following.
Gunn didn’t write the script.

Gunn didn't write the script for Supergirl. The writer for Supergirl is Ana Nogueira (who is also going to write the upcoming DCU Teen Titans movie).

The Supergirl movie is going to be based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic miniseries.

I still maintain that this movie's too early.

I also think they should've went the Power Girl route, but maybe that's still to come.

I think Gunn should be focusing on bigger name justice league characters first to start off the new universe. Not necessarily Justice League itself as a group, but the main big name members.
Well, there was just a Batman movie 3 years ago, so yeah. The Flash movie bombed. Aquaman isn't a strong enough brand (and Aquaman 2 flopped).

Supergirl seems to be a suitable choice.

If Supergirl's aim is to rebuild trust further and can be considered successful off 300-400 mil haul then sure, but anything further than that seems unrealistic tbh, especially with what it's competing with in the future

I would've pivoted immediately into a DCU Wonder Woman, enough time will have passed since WW1984 (most people didn't see it cuz of covid anyway) and from there then we can get into Lanterns and now most of the JL would have been accounted for and there'd be at least 2 box office successes. Now we're getting into danger zone territory already.

I'm also not 100% sure if aquaman will be in this JL lineup. It's entirely possible he won't. I think Gunn's going to go with the cartoon JL roster.

That's where I'm going with this, Supergirl may just be a mild success, and there's no big money box office sellers in sight right now.

I like what your trying to say but I don't see all these small time characters keeping the lights on.

Marvel lost fan faith by doing too many things we haven't seen, it is what is.

I can see that. I do think that Gunn dropped the ball on WW and is now trying to play catch up. I still don't think that there's anything wrong with Supergirl being the second DCU movie, though.

Aquaman was in JL and JLU, but yeah, I'm not sure if Gunn will use him.

I think supergirl will be successful, don't get me wrong, but it's not the type of impact hit that I think the 2nd DCU movie needs, not like a WW who I think would be a $400-500+ box office success if done well.

Aquaman was in cartoon JL but more as an honorary member for certain big episodes that require more manpower, and a few one offs that revolved around his plot, similar to how they did nightcrawler in OG xmen animated cartoon. He was used more in JLU, but everyone was cuz it was bigger, but he wasn't in every episode still. I think he'll be used similarly here, not as a mainstay member.

Facts, but not necessarily ones we've seen before. Like we absolutely do NOT need a Sgt Rock movie or a Waller tv series :russ:

I agree. This is one of the things that I don't like about what Gunn is doing so far. We don't need a Sgt. Rock movie, an Authority movie, a Clayface movie, etc. Just so unnecessary, lol.

There are lesser-known DC characters/groups that are better and should be given the spotlight instead of those ones.
