‘Superman’ Scraps Episodic Structure as James Gunn Refines Film’s Tone Ahead of Release — World of Reel
It appears James Gunn has decided to scrap Superman’s episodic title cards during the editing process. The film has been turned into a continuous, single narrative in the final edit.www.worldofreel.com
it might not be as pronounced as I had thought though and perhaps they just removed the title cards naming the day of the week that was being chronicled and not the overall structure?
as I understand "world of reel" is considered a reliable source, they also reported that Gunn cut out some of his trademark "humor" based on uneven reactions from early screenings

‘Superman’ Faced Major Changes After Test Screenings — Reshoots, Less Humor, Shorter Runtime, New Editor & Composer — World of Reel
Tensions are high at Warner Bros., where CEO David Zaslav and DC Studios leads James Gunn and Peter Safran are scrutinizing every frame to avoid another franchise misfire.www.worldofreel.com
maybe these changes are normal, but it all seems rather close to the movies release for me
I do think cutting down on the humor would be a good move though, esp after we saw it really dumb down a movie like Thor: Love & Thunder. You want some laughs, but it shouldnt be a major tone setter in these movies IMO
ATLEAST THE TEST RUNS
FORCED HIM TO GET RID
OF SOME OF THE HUMOR
