like destroying his home and dragging the dog away? or when the entire world turned on him in minutes after they saw his parents' full video? even the look on his face showed he was devastated by it.

or the pocket universe where a guard gets executed right in front of him point blank while there's nothing he can do about it as he's being suffocated & posioned by kryptonite, bringing him to tears?

Lex violated him in so many ways that would break any normal person - the dog, his home, his parents message, his image around the world. there were a lot of comedic moments but a lot of personal trauma in this as well that supe wen tthru

what movie did you watch breh?

From beginning to the end of film breh

Honestly the movie could’ve been called Superman and friends because everyone did a great job with the screen time they had lol even the bad guys
heavy set breh that worked for Lex irked a nerve because he was really riding with him. Real c00n like lol

The movie also shows you the difference between Superman and Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, Green Lantern quite clearly...

Superman because of his values and what he stands for is easier to try to manipulate emotionally which is maybe the one flaw he has..... The others? They do not give a fukk! They will kill you in two seconds if you cross them. This is shown over and over, nobody really wants the smoke with any of them lmaoo

A very interesting dynamic at play.

I couldn't stop myself from laughing when
Green Lantern kept hitting that 4th dimension imp with a baseball bat. Guy Gardner always has the silliest constructs. :mjlol:

Breh the entire theater exploded when
Peacemaker

Came on talkin his shyt... like a FOX News pundit lmaooo I hadn't recognized how popular he's become. It's wild.

To add to that, I listed all of the scenes that were played for emotional weight and he didn't comment on any of them because he and a couple others know I'm right when I said this movie wasn't just about the comedy....

Here you go:

Superman and the robots

They're robots:dahell:

They can be rebuilt and sure enough by the end of the movie they were. Not to mention we knew going in what was going to happen to them because the trailer spoiled it.

Having #4 poking himself in the head with a screwdriver seemed like a gag at the wrong time.

Superman and his Dad

I already said that was the most heartwarming moment in the movie and praised it.

Superman and Lois multiple times

Didn't feel that strongly about Lois. Their "interview" at the beginning was their longest interaction. When they went to the Kents they didn't interact. Her seeing his room and the poster was the only emotional interaction between them there. That was a nice touch but they didn't interact again until the kiss at the end. Had they put more Clark in the movie I probably would've felt more of a connection to Lois. She was either with Jimmy or Terrific for a large part of the movie.

In the OG movie Lois got buried alive and Superman had to go back in time to save her. This movie never had Lois in real danger and that's usually how they drive the emotion between the two characters.

Element Man/Metamorpho/his son

Didn't feel much about that when we barely spent time with that character and the Krypto jokes during the escape took away from the seriousness.

Superman and his "friends"

I said that got played for jokes right after with Guy's middle finger fists.

Superman's contact getting shot point blank

The halal guy :mjlol:

Who cares? You need to have a character who actually matters get hurt to add weight to that scene. That guy had like 3 lines before he got clapped.

Superman saving the kids....

Again those are extras. Save someone who you built up in the story.

Superman finding out the truth about his parents

I'll give you that.

My issue when it came to the emotional moments is they need to be tied to someone important to the narrative. Who are the main characters:

Superman & Lois at the top and of course Superman won't die but they never teased Lois being in a life or death situation.

Terrific only got knocked out briefly. No fear of him dieing.

Guy & Hawkgirl were never threatened.

Lex never got near the Kents.

If the main players go unscathed the danger doesn't hit the same.

It has the same metacritic score as 'Infinity War' :mjlol:

I really liked the way they just drop you into the action and the 'Star Wars' influence. For someone who doesn't really know the origin of Superman, you don't have to worry about that because it's smartly and efficiently told through the movie without having to go through the same old origin that all of us have seen a hundred times. Great choice.

Metacritic not looking so good :patrice:
Definitely mixed reviews
On the critic side is interesting. I scanned the lower scores. One mentioned no optimism in the movie which is weird seeing that and reading the posts in here. One mentioned the immigrant comment(should tell you want time they on), a couple mentioned superman being too weak. One mentioned a "lack of humanity", which goes against what a majority of this thread said. So some of them low scores seem to be on bullshyt :manny:

On the user side, I clicked one of the random low score reviewer's profile

:mjlol:

For the most part it seems in line with RT. I think that RT rating for the movie is like 7/7.5.

James Gunn is both critic loved and critic proof.

A lot of mixed reactions but its its still fun enough to give a positive review. Or its really loved critically like with Suicide Squad and GOTG 1.

However, GOTG3 didn't have stellar reviews and is still treated as a masterpiece or at least great on thecoli, social media, etc.

The metacritic for that is 64. Other MCU films having that would be called mid elsewhere.

So this will be no different. He provides enough heart, humor and action for people.

Ppl on the coli gas GotG3 like that or you just talking? Serious question, I dont think I follow much Marvel coli shyt but I dont remember reading GotG3 being praised on some great/masterpiece shyt. I fukk with Gunn, GotG1 was good, 2 was middish and I didnt bother with 3 or most the end marvel movie stuff.
