7/10
ITS GOOD NOT GREAT.

THE APARTMENT INTERVIEW
SCENE WITH LOIS IS PROBABLY
MY FAVORITE SCENE.

WASNT A BIG FAN OF THE PLOT,
NOR THE PACING.
MANY SCENES FELT A LIKE A TV SEASON CRAMPED
INTO A MOVIE.

I DONT FEEL LIKE POSTING IN
A SPOILER BOX SO ILL SAVE MY DETAILED
THOUGHTS FOR LATER

I think this is a solid 7, its a nice summer popcorn flick but this aint a top 10 comic book movie. I'd be in for a sequel depending on villain (Braniac  ).
I think this universe could do him justice.

Thoughts as I watched:
Pros:
  • Supes gave a solid performance, I saw much more of the boy scout in his personality.
  • Jumping into an already setup universe was a great choice
  • Mr. Terrific was a great addition, he def added some personality without being over the top goofy
  • Lex was solid, he def got better as the film went on
  • This Lois is a major upgrade over Amy Adams :scust:
  • The Engineer had a dope on screen powerset
Cons:
  • Krypto was fukking annoying :camby:
  • 2nd Act was boring af
  • They showed too much in the trailers
  • They could've toned down the country bumpkin on Pa & Ma Kent just a bit
  • Fight scenes were a bit meh
  • Green Lantern was all around trash, costume was terrible, (and im glad lois got on his haircut, nasty work)

Do i like MOS better, yes (better lore and action) but I think this is a good foundation moving forward

I been wanting a Brainiac movie.

You use Lex and you have to cram in multiple others villains since he can't fight Superman head up. You'd have a much tighter story focusing on 1.

We know the origin so no need to retell it but we know Lex too.

Brainiac or Darkseid next, just no Pratt quips on the next go!

Since he showed the Hall of Justice and knowing Gunn's sense of humor it'll be Lex forming the Legion of Doom with Gorilla Grod, Solomon Grundy, Bizarro, Sinestro, and every villain from the Super Friends cartoon who's not related to Batman, Wonder Woman, or Aquaman.

Minus Brainiac of course:beli:

I’m gonna wait for the digital release. Was planning on taking my family to see but ComicBook.Com’s podcast review oddly highlighted the intensity of kissing/making-out …. I’m good. :hubie:

Will take the kids to see Elio or How to Train Your Dragon or some shyt. . :yeshrug:

Theres one scene of real kissing and making out. Hardly raunchy or spicy even.

You say this like we didn’t see an execution and a president killed.

He incorporates the sunnier side of Superman, burn him at the stake for it, oh the humanity.

My god we have really turned into some cynical people as we’ve gotten older.

That was a lil weird too me to. However, I'm willing to cut that part some slack because in the natural human Flight or Fight response, there is a 3rd option that seldom gets mentioned. Freeze. Sometimes in fear, people just freeze and can't take their eyes off the danger. It is odd for so many to not try to evacuate tho.

They have become too comfortable with the idea of being saved by Superman. I gathered this is partially what Lex meant by Superman making humans weak. They are losing the human instinct to save themselves because they can rely on Superman to do it. He even accuses Superman of grooming humans

I said that in jest.

It's the Batman Forever of the Superman films. It's definitely a departure from the grounded SR and MoS...

Can we compare it to something else:mjlol:

Definitely wouldnt say its as goofy as Batman Forever. Plus when you say Batmam Forever people immediately think of a garbage film.

This is basically MCU Superman, but LESS goofy.

I think i may have predicted correctly. Some of you have been cursed by the Snyderverse aesthetic and DCEU "grittyness"/groundedness that this movie is a shock to the system. Its like coming out of a dark cave and seeing the sunlight for the first time in ages:francis:.

Your going through withdrawls but its okay. Revisit this film in the next 30 days if your giving it anything less than a 9. You should be able to digest it properly on the next go round:respect:
