Just came back from seeing it.

It's exactly what I expected from a James Gunn movie - lots of goofy moments, focus on humanizing the MC, and strong interpersonal relationship between characters.

I thought the strong points of the movie was Clark and Lois interactions, Luther, and Mister Terrific.

To me it wasn't really a Superman movie but a Lex Luther movie or a Clark Kent movie.

Superman basically got his ass kicked the whole movie by a streamer - Lex spamming L1 to beat up Superman was jokes but on brand for Gunn.

Entertaining and a solid 6.5/10

You know how silly this sounds when it's Superman?

It works somehow because Gunn is a goofy director. I thought they were gonna have a dance off at the end :russ:
Yeah, it's a bit silly... but it also makes sense for the context.

Ultraman would've lost to Supes without the cameras (as he eventually does), and Lex needed to keep track of their fights.

Might as well be Clark he spent 95% of the movie on his knees and back lol. That ain't Superman

sounds just like how @Lootpack likes the wives & girlfriends of all my coli opps:youngsabo:

But yea….. he fighting his clone literally with back help and a full team behind him.

Superman wasn’t nerfed but he also wasn’t getting a fair 1v1 fade either

When you say "full team behind him" it's not like it's the whole Crime Syndicate teaming up against him, it's a bunch of humans behind computer screens pressing up up down down left right left right :dead:

That bunch of humans is backed by a super intelligent billionaire

Batman and Oliver McQueen may only be richer and more intelligent

they can get the top of the line team that is much better and humans to sit behind them computer screens to run complex programs that would go will over the head of the average Crime Syndicate member

I appreciate the Cat Grant, but more like Cat Gratuitous. Camera homed in on those jubiles in every shot. She had maybe 3 lines the whole time.

Overall, good movie. Can't put my finger on Gunn's style, aside from the punk rock montages and weird fetishes.
  • Rachel B didn't have much to do. But what she did was dope
  • Mr. T was cool. A lot more personality and major upgrade from dude in Arrow
  • First I thought Green Lantern was Woody Harrelson, but turned out to be Nerd Jesus, Nathan Fillion - who I just hate because of how much I hate Civil War Fan Fic in Space - aka Firefly
  • Ol girl from the Last of Us was aight as Hawkgirl. Wish she was getting the love over Wednesday.
  • Lotta Black people in the DC Universe. Black Extras was eating very well
  • Lex stole every scene he was in
I also saw FF4 today, (back to back actually) and this, though not written well, was much better written.

Is this a return to form to Superman of old? Is DC Back? I don't actually know. Decent start, but this is the "10th" year of comic book fatigue, with no sign of anything taking its place.
