So it’s essentially a Bob Loves Abishola situation in where if you aren’t the leads then you’re essentially getting your walking papers.
They kept emphasizing how expensive the show was to produce and figured that the announcement delay was them trying to find a way to save it.

‘Superman & Lois’ Renewed For 10-Episode Season 4 At The CW
To make the dual deals possible there will be budget cuts that include reducing the number of series regular cast members. Superman & Lois has 12 series regulars, Deadline hears the leads are not expected to be affected but supporting cast members will likely be. (Speeding up the decision is the fact that cast options are set to expire this week.)
10 episode season which will probably be its last even though they don’t say it
12 full time cast members that will be cut down to probably 7 or 8
Kyle and Chrissy should be the first cuts
We know Clark, Lois, Jon, Jordan and probably Lana are safe
I’m guessing Lex will be full time next season
General Lane doesn’t need to be full time and sorry to say neither does John Henry and/or his daughter
If Lana stays she needs Sarah there I’m thinking
That’s a solid 7 full time cast members for next season with General Lane and Steel popping up if need be.
