:dame:"I don't keep money in my pockets" - Dame .......:dead:

Actually, this seems to be similar to Goozex which is now closed, so I don't know about its viability.

:patrice: Good looking out ...let me look into this Goozex :patrice:
:whoo:Ok, Goozex looks to have been a logistics medium for matching up different people to trade with. I.E a pseudo Ebay, but for trades instead buying & selling.

Goozex - Trading

Trading at Goozex is accomplished by a software algorithm matching buyers and sellers. Buyers request games and movies with varying conditions and are then matched to sellers through a queue system. Each seller has 26 hours to accept the trade and another three days to ship the game to the buyer. After the trade is complete, buyers leave feedback in order to show how well the trade went and if the game was received as expected. This feedback comprises a seller's feedback score.- wikipedia
goozex.png

Goozex also had a convoluted process for managing trades. :patrice:

Goozex -Trading

Trades are made using both points and trade credits. Points are the currency of Goozex and are currently valued at 100 points for five dollars. Points are traded between users in exchange for movies and games or bought directly from Goozex. Games and movies are valued between 100 and 2400 points at intervals of 50 points. The game prices are set by Goozex and not individual sellers. The price of games and movies can rise and fall due to a variety of factors. Prices can only change once a week and by a difference of 50 or 100 points. Trade tokens are paid by buyers directly to Goozex as a commission fee. Each trade token costs $0.99 and trades cost between 1 and 3 tokens depending on the value of the game, although users with feedback scores of 500 or greater receive a 50% discount. - wikipedia

This leaves us with two questions...
1. So whats the difference between Videogamestashbox.com and Goozex.com?
2. What makes Videogamestashbox.com more viable then the now defunct Goozex service?

Whats the difference between Videogamestashbox.com and Goozex.com?
  • videogamestashbox.com is the only entity a user goes through for processing trades and conflict resolution.
  • videogamestashbox.com assures that each game is in working condition upon arrival & exit, so there is no need to worry about receiving a broken game from a random user.
  • There is no selling queue. If a game is in the stash, you currently have a game in the stash, and you order that game it will be shipped out without waiting.
  • videogamestashbox.com only charges one flat fee(currently $4) that covers the entire trade from (us --> to the user --> to us --> and back to the user). No credits & tokens to deal with.
Comparison.png

What makes Videogamestashbox.com more viable then the now defunct Goozex service?
First off, I'm not even sure why it even went under. It looks like the guys who created it simply cashed out and sold their company. Other the that... :yeshrug:
That said...
  • We're less convoluted than Goozex or any other (used game / trading) service ...why? Because we don't deal with varying values of games. Put a valid game in pull any game out. $4 flat!
  • We're the least expensive option on the market short of bargain bins I.E We undercut everyone including Goozex, given they charged $1-$3 on top of the seller having to foot the S&H fees ...and this is before any credits purchases $5 per 100 credits.
Why choose Videogamestashbox.com over(Redbox, Gamefly,or Retail)?

Price & competition break down!
Note:
We'll be able to make it even less expensive when I open an account with USPS and get the same deal gamefly & netflix has(0.49 each way as opposed to 0.98 that I'm currently paying). Also the account only gets charged when / if the envelope is mailed, right now I pay everything upfront.
:francis:

:jbhmm:Actually if you need a precedent to understand the service, I would say think Goozex with the simplicity of gamefly(send a game get a game) ...but less expensive than either. :takedat:

As always I appreciate the feed back. It gives me a cause to reassess/solidify things again. :salute:....and chill "wit da" shady business :what:.........:mjpls:

:russ: ....though he still could've been on one :mjpls: so I took it with a grain and built with it, especially the goozex call. :yeshrug:
That Goozex was a damn good call :francis: ...got a chance to checkout their setup :ohhh: after looking at it I kinda remember looking at the site back in the day, though I never used it:jbhmm:

What happens if users send in trash games that nobody wants but want highly valued games in return and there's not enough to go around?

Thanks for the feedback(Especially the Goozex drop), see prior responses below :myman:

Can I put any game in the stash and get any game back out?

Yes, exactly

Note:
I'm glad you asked that question as well. When you make something it's easy to assume other people are as clear about it as you are. I need to make some kind of infographic or animation making it clear to people how it works.
:jbhmm:
Any suggestions are welcome. :ehh:

Issues with www.slickdeals.net and cheapassgamer

They could only fuel the stash. There is a default 3 stock maximum on each games in the stash. So if they send in "barbies wonder land 4" they are cut off at 3 games. If they keep sending cheap games all they are doing is building my stock and giving me money. I get bread either way. Also if they do it there's less room for someone else to do it. Put another way there is a small window for people to send cheap games before all the available slots are taken. At that point it's business as usual.
:takedat:

Good questions, btw :ehh: they actually help me clarify my position:salute:

You just made me think of something else. :jbhmm: Technically I could list only games deemed acceptable into the stash before hand, then simply list them as "quantity 0" if I have non on hand. That way I lower the chances of compromising the quality of games on hand. I mean I already did this to a lesser degree with sports games (no "league sports" games are currently taken as trades)
Right now I take any game given and rest on the max capacity/reserve system to check/weed out excess garbage. :patrice: ........................:ohhh: this might work better actually:ehh:
Originally I was going to address that issue of quality or even rare games by adding premium private invite only stashes where groups of people could trade among themselves with videogamestashbox.com as facilitator to secure the trading process. But those functionalities are on the slate for inclusion after the core service is turning a profit. No time to code right now, most of my time is spent promoting and working my "pay the bills job".
:francis::yeshrug:

Thanks again for the feedback ....gets the wheels turning :salute:

What happens if users send in trash games that nobody wants but want highly valued games in return and there's not enough to go around?

To answer more specifically...

What happens if users send in trash games that nobody wants....
Then those users will trade in an eco system of trash games.

...but want highly valued games in return...
If a highly valued game is available they are free to pick it.

...and there's not enough to go around?
Then they are back to the eco system they created.

Notes:
1.
Given the "max quantity" system there could be...
  • 3 copies max of "caravel games 3" allowed in the stash
  • 20 copies max of "bloodborne" allowed in the stash
Current default is set at 3 copies of any game(to help diversify the stash quickly). Any overflow is put in reserve(you can trade only for other reserve games until that copy enters the stash) or if the trade envelope is dated after "reserve closed date" the same game will be shipped back as their trade.

2. We don't deal in monetary game values, this is what causes other game trade services to become convoluted "well my game is worth $23 and yours is worth $12 so you need to do......."
The unspoken value system is...(no particular order)
  • Want to play that
  • Want to play that again
  • Never played that before
  • Already played that
  • Don't want to play that

3.
Philosophy: Within the African American cultural / historical landscape I see some of the strongest manifestations when looking at music & food. In these sectors basic cultural ingredients germane to African Americans are built upon to create new culturally relevant expressions. Given that these expressions are a reflection of AA culture they are distinct(not different) from other expressions which means you can get them mainly from AAs' creating a valued entity ...and ultimately giving something new/distinct to the world. My position is that you can take music & food out and run anything from clothing & architecture to comics/movies & governing systems through the same process for similar results.

Ok ...fine, and what does that have to do with videogame trades?

The above is applied in this case as well. Instead of taking my cue from established "European" cultural/business forms I looked at my own culture growing up playing & trading games because we could only get games for Christmas and birthdays. I took that cultural game trading expression and built upon it to create a new **hopefully** culturally relevant expression. This is why videogamestashbox.com is cheaper and doesn't resemble other services. It's formed from the experience of wanting to play lots of games but not having the money to do so within an African American cultural context.

The monetary value was always secondary to wanting to play as many games as possible. We didn't bargain/trade based on monetary value, we worked on what we hadn't played before, wanted/didn't want to try, etc ...though to be fare alot of that was due to youth.

:russ:
....I'm good bruh, thanks for the concern. :obama:

:jbhmm:Money wasn't / isn't the concern. As stated before I have a contracting gig that I pay bills with, then flip the rest back into my business. At best extra funds would speed things up but they are not really "necessary" at this point. Actually the plan was to do a second advertising campaign, that's when the funding idea was put forth so I was like hey why not :yeshrug: ...that's why I started it. not out of necessity. Funny thing is I spent more then $16 out of my pockets just advertising the thing. When I first started I thought you put up a profile and walk away ...that's why I figured it would work as an advertising medium. After a couple days and emails from cacs trying to sell me promotion services it hit me that you have to actually promote the listing not just sit on it. So I basically ended up doing a second promotion campaign anyway.

Now :whoa: don't get me wrong, :mjpls:"...I'd take the doe though"
