Ehh, the logic makes sense. The money is not going directly to the school, it goes to vouchers that the end users use to attend the schools. Roberts says that Maine forbidding those vouchers from being used for religious schools amounts to religious discrimination by the state.

This case is about remote regions without enough infrastructure to support public schools. The dissenters made the precedent/slippery slope argument, and I understand that, but this the other argument is sound.

No its just selfishness sorta. You not gonna get a parent to choose to keep the kid in a bad school over an immediate solution like vouchers.

This issue is 100 times more complicated than the typical discussion, especially because the parents and kids are stuck between two intractable positions.

A lot of these vouchers are used by Black folks in cities with shytty districts to send their kids to parochial schools. They don't have the luxury to wait for 10 years hoping their city/state/school board/legislature enacts a more equitable school funding mechanism.
