I read that it is too much work to go after big wigs which is why they go after little people. They are a lazy entity

:scust: they need to be reformed as well... sucking blood from the little people but big corporations skate with impunity even though they make billions....:scust: what good is the IRS then???

The IRS is only as strong as the legislation written for it. If lawmakers wanted the IRS to go after big business, they'd write laws to make it so.

Regardless, its still a needed entity.

The IRS is only as strong as the legislation written for it. If lawmakers wanted the IRS to go after big business, they'd write laws to make it so.

Regardless, its still a needed entity.

:beli: i mean if you say so... Apple still has a trillion dollars untaxed in offshore accounts but the irs is needed... ok...

A trillion? No, they're at around $200 billion cash on hand which if you ascribe to the theory that companies should be re-investing to create more value, is way too much.

Regardless, they don't make tax law or enforce what a public company can do with its money. If the laws are written with loopholes that allow Apple to do it, the IRS can't do anything about it.

Now if they are blatantly cheating, well, that's a different story.
