Do you think the government failed to design the rental relief program?

not too many solutions being posted in here, just the intellectually bankrupt idea that 16 months of kicking the can wasnt enough

not to mention that the pandemic excuse became null and void, once we hit 100% vaccine availability in fukking May. why arent these tenants vaccinated :stopitslime:

I want to get the OG capitalist's view on landlords. What does adam Smith say:

The landlords, like all other men, love to reap where they never sowed, and demand a rent even for the natural produce of the earth. ... The rent of land not only varies with its fertility, whatever be its produce, but with its situation whatever be its fertility.

Tell that to TLR, which is landlord heaven.

The state has failed to do its job in allocating money for arrears. This is fxcuked but they can't just endlessly extend the moratorium if they aren't going to actually implement a solution
Pay the landlords, forgive them rent problem solved

you say that as if our government has ever shown a propensity to do the quick easy thing? if they did, the funds would've been allocated off rip instead of putting small landlords in debt/out of business only to force further consolidation of the rental market into the hands of corporations and large investors

Our government doesn’t do this because their corporate handlers don’t want them too. The cruelty in the name of capital is the point. I’m telling you what the easy answer is but the government and corporations would prefer to see millions of lives ruined instead. We didn’t learn a thing from 2008

Landlords today provide some value of course, but they also benefit a lot from shyt unconnected to their value. Appreciating neighborhood prices, great public schools, lobbying to prevent multi-family housing (restricting housing supply).... Part of their proceeds can definitely be classified as economic rent.

No they dont. :heh:

Was this serious?
