Joseph Rothchild, the owner of the strip center, said the driver was alert and talking after the crash. "He said he remembered backing up and he remembered going forward but after that, he just remembered waking up in the space," Rothchild said. He added that the driver had just come from dialysis treatment and likely suffered a medical emergency.
