Its short sightedness by older financially strapped "vets"
They are scared of hell of missing one last payday so they punish new guys, even though overall rookie salaries raise the tide for everyone.
its the same reason why there isn't better nfl situations for players. no one wants to sacrifice, then they sit there and wonder why shyt aint changing for the better

The NFL is a whole next level of stupidity.
Upshaw didn't even represent the players, he was Taligabue's lapdog.
Dee Upshaw hasn't even tried to do anything but wear sharp suits on tv.
The players themselves seem to be all afflicted with CTE because these nikkas go into a labor negotiations talking about number of practices instead of money.
They voted down the Steelers who wanted to have arbitration, they are generally borderline retarded.

But on a serious note who wants a league overun by 18 yos from highschool never being associated with college.
Is this a joke?

Kevin Garnett, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, and other HS players ran an era of the NBA.

I have NEVER heard a white person denigrate a hockey or baseball player for skipping college. Only bball players get looked down on or criticized for it. I wonder why.

When the NBAPA got Michele Roberts they have a real union leader, she isn't playing any games, a lot better than BIlly Hunter.
The NFLPA has never had real leadership.

So I would say off the bat its unfair to put the NBA players and their union, which has histoically been very good, since the days of Oscar Robertson. to the joke that is the NFLPA

yes the nfl is next level as far as weak unions go, and the players hold all the cards. they just never want to play their hand

Agreed. I think the rule was racist, but it did have a solid economic foundation for the reasoning. League was losing a lot of money paying high schoolers who didn't pan out.

That said, the NCAA needs to start paying players, period. Allow players to have merchandise sold in their name. I also think they should let them get drafted but offer them the opportunity to play college as well. Like say you can enter the draft and get drafted and are also eligible to play in college for a certain amount of years. Win/win for everyone.
This is not even almost true. To this day there have only been 44 high schoolers drafted (since 66), and only 3 didn’t make a roster. The majority of them have had solid careers.

Crispness
The issue I have is only with the NCAA and their slave labor. Burn that motherfukker down to a crisp. Or hopefully these kids either start looking at their other options (international) or some American businessman/men come together and take advantage of an opportunity to create another league on some ABA shyt where these guys end up with an avenue to get paid to play in their league.

Yeah.

On some real chit - I thought the And1 Tour or something like it was a good idea for these dudes.

but the problem that would need to be addressed is, what do the players who "need to make money for their families" do
for them in the interim?
