Kevin's doing well.
3:30 -- His current/upcoming tour has sold 660,000 tickets in 3 weeks.
This isn't very interesting through the 1st 7 minutes.
7 to 11 minutes -- Kevin is just talking about producing content and his business. He's got a vision for himself, but this is boring. Yawn.
11:15 -- Sway mentions that movie houses haven't been terribly open in giving many black entertainers a chance. And that often it's just 1 black person per era who is given their 15 minutes...so to speak. Kevin dances around the answer by saying you can either feed into that or not. He chooses not to get into that stuff.
I got distracted but it seems around the 14-15 minute mark Kevin is talking about Oprah and Tyler Perry not getting involved with the racial stuff and how it allowed them to build tremendous wealth. Perry with his own studio and Oprah with her network and show.
16 minutes in -- Sway asks Kevin Hart about Aries Spears' comments. Kevin doesn't really respond to Aries Spears. His approach seems to be that he doesn't understand why people talk about a guy who never talks about them. Kevin's basically saying he's too busy with his own things to worry about what other people say. He says he doesn't really have writers. He has 2 guys that he is with all the time and they'll jot down things that Kevin says...and later on they'll go over it and maybe incorporate it into his stand-up. But Kevin insists that his comedy is about his life...his kids, his ex wife, his upbringing...so there's no way he's really plagiarizing anyone.
21 minutes -- Kevin says he still has love for Aries. But also notes that Kevin has 5 comedy specials and Aries Spears has just 1...even though Spears has been in comedy for something like 20 years.
21:50 -- Sway brings up Mike Epps. Kevin sort of reiterates that he and his writers are too busy to be stealing jokes or adapting jokes from other comedians. Basically saying that Kevin Hart's comedy is his own.
I'm just about done at 25 minutes. There's still another 10 to go but you guys can listen.
I think Kevin explained himself well, although a bit long-winded.
I wasn't really amused by this interview though.
