That was supposed the be the Holiday mover but word of mouth spread quickly that the game was disappointing.
No, it wasn't. Kirby Air Riders was their big holiday game.

I know brehs here don't care about Kirby being fukking massive, especially in Japan. Nintendo knew Prime 4 was pretty meh. Why do you think they didn't promote it like they did with Dread?

People gotta stop putting japan on a pedestal. That region alone can’t carry an entire platform

If the switch 2 is struggling in the west its gonna be a big drop off from switch 1

Where did I say anything about Japan carrying the Switch 2? I just mentioned how popular Kirby is worldwide, and it is a giant in Japan. Which is why they prioritized it, especially considering the state of the game compared to Prime 4. Sure, in today's age of gaming, you need to appeal worldwide, which is what Nintendo does.

It's not a surprise that the Switch 2 had a decline in sales in the holidays since most people who were going to buy it bought it at launch. Or even when the recent Legends game came out. What else did Nintendo have that really got people to want to buy the new console if they didn't already, considering there aren't stock issues? Nintendo will more than likely be fine, but they do need to announce new games within the next few months since right now they haven't announced their big 2026 holiday release, with the next-gen Pokémon coming out in Nov 2027 most likely.

Even taking that into account, Air Riders did better than expected in the US, which was a major contribution to selling less than a million outside of Japan. For a racing spinoff for a series that hasn't had an entry in 22 years, that is a solid success for them.

I think they need to announce their A-tier stuff at this point. The games that are gonna easily do 10 million, it feels like the bench is carrying the first half of the year right now.

Wasn’t the switch 1 only $300?

I bought a Switch 2 last year just because I only had a Switch Lite.

But yeah, $450-$500 for a Nintendo console is hard to swallow for a lot of people right now, especially with the lack of killer apps
Good point.

At $299.99, it seems like a good deal. People that game on Series X, PS5 or PC would get a Switch as their secondary/handheld console.

When the price is closer to $500, that's main console territory for some folks. The people who missed out on Switch 1 and the hardcore Nintendo fans will buy it....but the rest will wait.

I've got a Switch 1 and enjoy playing it sometimes, but the types of games I enjoy are simply better on my PS5 and Series X.

You can also still get a ps5 Fortnite bundle right now for $399 which is cheaper than the switch 2

I need those $80 games to flop

Only one true $80 game and it’s sold like 18 million copies already

The others are switch 2 editions

It’s that other shovelware shyt Nintendo releases that’s flopping like Mario tennis and hyrule warriors and the upcoming yoshi game

Nintendo needs to start pricing their b tier games accordingly. Some of nintendos games should be 30/40 dollars

The craziest part is that they rarely if ever offer discounts on their games. There are still switch 1 games that released 5 + yrs ago still going for full price. They were insane thinking they can charge $80 for games. Mario Kart is more of an outlier than the new trend

BOTW is $70 dollars right now, it actually went UP in price :deadrose:

I still remember the crying when Sony had the nerve to charge for 10 dollar upgrades on hugely discounted games
