The price of the Switch 2 went up like $150 over the Switch and you expect me to believe that a game going up $10 sparked more outrage? It was clearly for all of it. They didn't expect a $450-$500 console or an $80 game.
Nintendo has been the cheapest console for decades now. Now they're right in line with everyone else.

There’s a surprising amount of Switch 2’s in-store at retailers. I could’ve grabbed one this morning, but lately I feel like I don’t have much time/energy for games
If you actually read up on the news you would see that the outrage was more towards the price of games than the price of the console. Not to say that there wasn't rage over the console price, but people kept leading on the price of the games.

So by your logic if they held back around a million units and it sold out instantly at launch it would be more of a success? They sold what others sold in a several weeks to a month in just the first day and a half.
They flooded the market with these things and in many places they are sold out. Target opened online orders at like 4:30am and they gone now.
