I really want to get my hands on one but mainly for sports games on the go. I ain't got a big interest in 1st party games aside from Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Would it be a sound investment for me? And what's the future prospects of them having some more games geared towards adults?

NBA 2K18 and FIFA both run great.

Outside of the portability, is the system (graphics etc) really better than the Wii U? I feel like it might be dang near the same tech but just resold in a different package to get people to buy it.

Lego City Undercover Wii U vs Switch, it's not the most technically impressive game in the world but it's a clear leap from the Wii U version.
