So is it confirmed that Kanye didn't write anything for his first two albums? I knew Fest wrote Jesus Walks, and I'd heard rumors about ghostwriting, but can we really say he didn't write anything (on the first two albums - Graduation and 808 were disappointing lyrically). Don't sleep on Kanye (or the dudes who write his chit - whatever the case may be!) the skill is there. He outshined Mos and Freeway on Two Words, Through the Wire was ill and All Falls Down may have been the most lyrical song on the album. LR had some chit too - his verse on Gone was crazy - he spazzed on Diamonds and Late was ill too. Of course - he can be incredibly uneven - but when he's on - he's crazy nice with his son.

Nas has credibility galore when it comes to lyrics. Especially in the wake of Stillmatic when he bested Jay and dropped an album full of heat (pen wise - song wise too - but we're talking about lyrics). Whether or not he eventually took the L on the streets I don't know (he did diss him on Gods Son "House in Virginia") and I don't think it really matters in terms of judging them both on the lyrics.

Disagree on 40 but we've been up and down that road.

You're right about Twista. Dead on the $ actually. Props for doing the list in the first place. It's clear you put a lot of thought into it.

juvenile is a better lyricist than kanye.

dog, its been obvious for almost a decade now that consequence was writing almost all of kanye's bars back then. and even then, that stuff wasnt all that nice. youre getting caught in the hype and the idea of kanye being backpack. theres no way he should be mentioned as a better lyricist than somebody like camron ever. EVER.

when i said nas had no credibility, i wasnt referring to him as a lyricist. im saying that hes a clown @$$ dude that i cant take seriously.

if you liked "soulja rags" and the kidd kidd joint, then you'll love juvenile. his catalog is basically just like that but on steroids.

Juvenile doesn't belong in a discussion about lyricists. Look, he's not wack, I'll give you that. But unless you start naming songs where he spazzed - he's average in my book.

Not sure what you mean about the hype of him being "backpack". I think his content was more relatable on the first two albums and a departure from what was going on in the mainstream at the time. At the end of the day, it sound like you dislike Kanye for allegedly employing ghostwriters (which is a valid reason) and for other reasons related to his image which you haven't fully articulated yet. I can understand not rocking with his music for that reason - but I would think you could still acknowledge the lyrical ability that he's demonstrated on more than a few songs.

I didn't like Soulja Rags. It had its moments and it made it clear to me that Juve ain't wack on the mic, but I doubt I'll ever listen to it again. I also listen to most of Reality Check (I think that's the name? The album with Rodeo.) and was largely unimpressed.

The joint with Kidd Kidd was great. Amazing beat and Juve went in.

i never said that juvenile is a great lyricist. i said he has lyrical ability AND CAN RAP CIRCLES AROUND KANYE WEST, who you are trying to champion as a top-tier lyricist for his era.

and the hot stuff that kanye actually spit was written by consequence and others. come on man.

again, youre skimming thru music if you think the kidd kidd song was anywhere close to juvi at his best. you didnt even mention his best albums. have you ever listened to them?

Ok - name me the songs where Juvenile raps circles around the verses Kanye had on the songs i previously mentioned. I will check them out.

Now - I thought we had cleared this up - but just to reiterate - I asked you to name me Juve's most lyrical album (more than once). Eventually, you said to check out Soulja Rags - which I did. We've already established that I'm not a fan of Juve and hadn't listened to the albums. If you think he's got an album that's better than Soulja Rags LYRICALLY - then put a link to that album in my profile and I'll take a listen.

lol. im not trying to get into a lyrical debate involving juvenile and especially not kanye west.

im just saying that juvenile is nice with the pen and you already agreed with that. as far as kanye goes, yes juvi can rap circles around kanye but thats not exactly a compliment. kanye is far from a lyricist, and to top it off, the bars that were actually hot that he recited didnt even come off of his pen. just putting the words "kanye" and "lyricist" in the same sentence is hip-hop blasphemy and i refuse to have any parts of that. sorry.

yes, i said for you to listen to "soulja rags" because thats the album with the most traditional rap songs on there, and i knew that it would reasonate with you the most since you seem to have a habit of skimming thru artists and you have such a solid stance against juvi. i mean, youre bigging up the kidd-kidd song, and yes its a hot song but it would be a mere filler track on "g-code" or a downright throwaway track if it was recorded during the "400 degreez" sessions. so theres no way possible that you can like the kidd-kidd song that much and not be a fan of juvenile if you gave the man a fair shot. thats why i took the soulja rags approach with you. the albums mentioned are better actually but they may just not be for you, so theres a chance that you wont "get it". soulja rags was a better sure shot. a better gateway example if you know what i mean. and now that i got you reeled in, youre more open to "400 degreez" and "g-code" which are better but too far out of your zone to be the 1st thing i would play for you to prove my point.

With the abundance of chit that I still need to listen to from last year...I just can't justify listening to any more Juve albums in their entirety. I just don't think he merits it. I definitely can't justify actually going out there and trying to find those two albums.

If you can recommend some songs - I'll check them out.

Also - the Kidd Kidd song >>>>> "Ha". Its not even close - its like two different rappers.

:snoop:

you seem to live in too much of a bubble. concerning music at least. thats not good. youre too far out-the-loop on stuff because of it.

why do you keep bringing up "Ha"? what does that have to do with anything?:why: and for the record, no, its not two different rappers. if you werent so far out-the-loop, you would know that the kidd-kidd joint is a better representation of a juvenile record than "Ha". this leads me to believe that you really didnt even listen to that "soulja rags" album or the "reality check" album that you claim to have heard. because if you did, you wouldnt be making such an awkward statement.

and how you managed to go all this time without hearing "400 degreez" is beyond me. and its not hard to find. neither is g-code. theyre multi-platinum albums.

and trust, whatever you plan on listening to from last year, doesnt stack up to "g-code", let alone "400 degreez" which i rank as a top 25 rap album ALL-TIME.....NOT THE '90S.....ALL-TIME!!!!

and for the record, that kidd-kidd song is not as good as "Ha". its not even arguable. just admit that you dont understand the song. lol.

Link in profile? That's the only way I'll listen to more Juve.

I'm not in a bubble musically and I wasn't out of the loop back in the late 90s. Hip hop was life and death for me back then. Juve just didn't make any waves in my immediate circle.

I understand Ha to be wack.

Juve's verse on New Warleans was great and the production is top notch. The flow was on point too (something he struggled with on Soulja Rags and just failed at miserably on Ha). Clearly - he has aged well.

And I didnt think you were coming at my head. You were being a bit presumptuous about my knowledge base bc I don't rock with Cash Money - but its the Internet - I've been called worse!

dog, you basically just defined somebody who is out-the-loop with this statement. do you not realize this? lol.

and it has nothing to do with you not being into cash money. everybody isnt going to like everything. its the fact that youre completely oblivious to it. theres no way that you didnt know alot of people rocking with it. you shouldnt be this oblivious.....but then again, youre stuck in your own world and moved no further than your immediate circle......thats the definition of out-the-loop.

also, youre once again proving that you dont understand soulja rags or "ha" if you think he struggled with the flow. you dont understand the style. you dont understand bounce music. and you really didnt listen to the album seeing that you think hes a completely different rapper on the kidd-kidd song.

I don't think oblivious is the right word here. Go back and read my earlier posts on this - I knew about Cash Money as soon as they came on the national scene and I appreciated that they blew sky high.

But 400 Degreez only went Quad Plat - you're acting like it was Thriller or something :leon: people I knew didn't cop the album or pay him much attention. What would you have me do? Go up to random people on the street and ask their opinion? Stalk the record store and confront people who bought the album? At this point - it seems like your definition of "oblivious" is "didn't buy and really like the album".

You may be right about bounce music and Ha being indicative of that style - if that's the case then it would appear that the whole sub genre was wack (in terms of measures of greatness for traditional hip hop). I will readily admit I don't know anything about Bounce music.

yea oblivious is the right word. you show little cognizance concerning anything thats not poppin amongst yourself and your circle.

i mean, unless youre just not from that type of environment. maybe your circle is the only hip-hop circle at your disposal wherever youre from. if thats the case, then sure 'oblivious' may be a strong word. but youre still out-the-loop.

now im basing this thread off of rap city spins?

youre talking out ya @$$ again. i didnt even bother to read the rest of that post. i cant deal with the bullchit anymore. i reached my bullchit tolerance level.

and if anything, youre the one basing your argument around rap city spins and empty meaningless numbers. your posts lack perspective. thats why you stay coming off green.

edit: bleek sold cause he was an established name. his album didnt have the impact & popularity of juelz' album. not saying juelz debut was great or anything but his joint got more play in the hood than bleek's chit. and more people had juelz album. you dont even understand the bootleg game, trying to compare east coast albums. again, you lack perspective.

In a thread about singles chart positions and records sold off those singles are empty and meaningless, realize how damn goofy that sounds:laff:?...I don't lack perspective difference is you pass your perspective out as if its fact or sumthin when it ain't based off shyt but u and your circles opinions....my bad if this thread wuz just about singles YOU think are hot....as long as that's what this is then cool, historically it lacks accuracy tho and screams bias and I see excuses for everything....40 never had a single that stopped time but Juelz and AZ did:wtb: stop it...like I said if its your personal list then it is what it is:manny:...if throwin the stats in the bushes helps your argument so be it:whoa:
