blow the whistle? really?:noah:

why call out juelz? he destroys e-40.

e-40 is non-existent up here, whether it be radio or albums. i never heard a peep from him when i was living down south either.

some of those are the click's singles, some of the others range from average to wack.

you might want to post some early e-40 singles or something. that might help.

i know he aint far from the list and thats off the strength of joints like "thing'll never change", the sir mix-a-lot remake, etc.

How is Juvenile #7 ? Ha, Back That Azz Up and Slow Motion? Am I missing any othe hits? Missy's had more bigger singles then that. And they're both trash lyrically - so clearly that's not a factor for you.

1. juvenile is not trash lyrically.
2. regardless of that, lyrics are far-far from being some sort of be all/end all.
3. if you cant see the difference between missy(no disrespect) and juvenile, then i dont know what to tell you.

You didn't answer my question. What other hits does he have? How is he #7 ? My understanding I that this list isn't your personal opinion right? What are the objective criteria you used to put Juvenile at #7 ?

I've never heard a decent verse from Juvenile - but because I never liked his singles, I never checked for his albums. Tell me his best songs lyrically and I'll check them out and let you know whether I reconsider my assessment of him.

There are some big differences between Juvenile and Missy. Ones a man and one is a woman (sort of). But both are trash lyrically. They do have that in common.

Missy had way more singles than Juve.

Ja Rule should be higher on the list too.

its not about who has singles.

nor is it a commercial list.

how you gonna talk about an artists' ability and you never even listened to any of their albums? i cant even speak with you about that sub-topic any further. its just a waste of time. i cant rock with people that talk big chit about stuff they clearly dont know anything about.

anyway, other juvi joints(why should i even have to list them?):
soulja rags
rodeo
nolia clap
bounce back
gotta get it
power
u understand
mama got @$$
set it off
whats happenin
i got that fire
follow me now
get ya hustle on
ha remix

all popular singles, in addition to the big 3 that you named.

LL is number 1 so I can't hate on this list other than Em being ranked so high

Good to know that a thread about the top 60 artists in TERMS OF SINGLES" isn't about "who has singles".

Nolia Clap and Mama got A SS were hits. The rest were not. Unless we're talking about regional hits (which would contradict your reasoning for keeping E-40 off the list).

Based on that list - I see no justification for Juve being in the top ten.

You claimed he wasn't trash lyrically. You gotta back that up now (no pun intended). Just tell me what his most lyrical song is. I'm not gonna go scouring through his extensive catalog. You're a fan of his - just give me the most lyrical song. I'll start there.

I've heard more than enough from him to know I don't want to hear more. Give me the one song (his absolute best) that will make me reconsider.

homie, im from philly. most of those joints i listed were not regional.

as for the missy stuff, its like i said, its not just about "hits". cuz alot of the times, the biggest hits are usually just the singles with the most money behind them. if youre looking for a fluffy industry list, then youre in the wrong thread. yes, i do factor in hits and "hits", and the artists have benefited from that. otherwise, some of these rappers wouldnt have made the list at all. BUT BE CLEAR, i make my threads for the niccas first & foremost.

you see no justification of juvi being in the top 10, but you give off the impression that youre somehow not even familiar with these songs.

no offense but as i said in the previous post, im not interested in entertaining the lyrics argument. i dont go back-n-forth with people when they already have their minds made up concerning something that they know nothing about. you didnt even hear 400 degreez. how is that even possible?

and youre looking for lyrical wizardry songs? youre not gonna get that. thats not what his style is about. youre not gonna get black thought. im just saying that hes not trash lyrically and is actually nice with the bars. meanwhile, youre judging him off of singles like "ha" & "back that thang up" which is just an ignorant thing to do.

Wacky - if I had my mind made up about Juvenile I would have replied telling you to kick rocks...or I just would have ignored the list. I disagree with some of your choices, but its obvious you have an extensive knowledge of hip-hop and you're not just some kid who's been listening to hip-hop since 2010. The fact that you would put Juvenile at #7 is wildly out of line with my assessment of him as an artist. That's why I asked you to put me on to some of his better songs (lyrically) and that I would check them out and let you know what I thought. So far, you haven't even been able to give me one song. That speaks volumes.

Juvenile has been on my radar since 98 when "Ha" dropped. I remember seeing the video on Rap City (I had recorded the episode b/c I was still in high school at the time). I was shocked my first time seeing it. I thought he was the worst rapper I'd ever heard and the production was a ss. I thought it was so bad that I took the video cassette to my friend's house (obviously, also some cats into hip-hop) just to make sure they had the opportunity to see it. I was sure I'd never hear anything else from Juvenile. They liked it (much to my chagrin) and Juve blew sky high. Now based on that - why would I listen to 400 degrees? And how is it ignorant to judge an artist off of their singles? Should I go check for Trinidad James' chit? Or can I just assume that he's wack based on that awful song until he releases a song that convinces me otherwise?

Getting back to Juve - from that point on...if their was a song that had Juve on it - I was either hearing it on the radio - seeing it on TV - or hearing it in the club. He (along with the rest of Cash $) was inescapable. So I've heard a lot of his stuff. None of it has impressed me (in terms of him as a rapper). At some point after Mama got A ss - he fell off - then he was on again with Nolia Clap and Slow Motion - then he fell off again. I'm talking in terms of his songs getting radio play nationwide (I'm from the Bay and have been in DC since 2002).

I know I'm not getting a Rakim/Pun/Nas/G Rap flow from him. I don't expect that. I don't expect that from Scarface even. But Face is one of the GOATs b/c he's lyrically dope in every other respect.

Also - the basis for the ranking of the list is confusing. At this point, I'm just assuming that it is largely based off your personal opinion.

thanks for the props. and for the record, i wouldnt type so much towards you if you werent a respectable poster......but you know you bout to get that work right? cuz you buggin out right now.

this is what im saying. i see a whole lot of typing but instead, you couldve easily just went to youtubes and listened to an album.

so all your peoples, the clubs, everybody around you showing juvi love, and he sold a chitload of records and was the man on a legendary label. all that and you never once stopped to figure out what the hoop-la was about and check out an album? not even 400 degreez? yet, instead you automatically hold an opinion of him as a trash artist?

and no, i dont have an opinion on trinidad james. i only heard one song. thats why i said man, i cant argue with people on instances like this. youre too stuck in your ways before even giving something a chance. i cant waste my time on that. go check out the "soulja rags" album or something at least.

now as far as everything else goes.......

you think he fell off in between "mama got @$$" and "slow motion"?:what: do you not realize that "slow motion" was on the album that came out after "project english"(the album that featured "mama got a$$")????? so how is it possible that he fell off in that timeframe in your eyes if youre giving props to both joints? thats not logical. did it ever occur to you that he just didnt drop any retail music for a while due to the HIGHLY-PUBLICIZED beef with cash money? and he actually did drop music in-between that time, on the undergound tip: the popular 600 degreez mixtape.

also, the album he dropped after project english, the last cash money album & the utp joint was better than all them chits. and "rodeo" was a big hit.

if youre confused about how i did the rankings, i can break it down. and yes, i applied personal opinion but theres much more that i factored into this list. if it was just based on personal opinion, then the list would different. juvenile would prolly be higher actually.
