Would you have sold verzuz to truller

  • No, I wouldn't have sold to anyone, and monetized other ways

Covid is over and people are outside again.
So bring it outside :why:

I clearly mentioned other ways to monetize especially shows and a tour which they already started doing premium shows...having a verzuz concert with 2-3 acts which a streaming platform as a summer tour was right there.

Y'all thinking as small as Swizz and Timbaland...

Cuz it's not just the money

It's about the workload, who wants to be rich but still have to clock in for shyt and deal with all the contracts/lawsuits etc.?

Easier to just sell and go about your life, can't really be mad at anyone for doing it.

I'm not gonna tell no other black person they have to clock in so they can be my "idol" or representation, you could argue that's why a lot of black people get the fukk up outta the way once they get to those positions, whole group of people deciding YOU have to be their superman sounds like a trash situation unless you been preparing for it your whole life

Also depending on fukking musicians for leadership is :mjlol: these nikkas be doing the foulest shyt to people who aren't famous. If the podcast game taught us anything about the "OG's" it's that none of them are trustworthy and really use fame as a measurement for how respectful they are to people
I see your points :manny:

Do they need the Verzuz name to do those shows?

If Swizz/Tim wanna do some Badu and Jill Scott shows, there's a market for that. People aren't going to turn it down because it's not marketed as Verzuz.

A lot of the “what about legacy?” “Black owned” types don’t understand business

It’s the American way to start a business, grow it and sell it.

No serious business person gets into business so they can say hey, take a look my black owned business. They get into business to make money. :heh:

I'm not that guy. There's a thread here about a family selling a ton of land with people talking about generational wealth, when their windfall was like $20mm, and I said "ya know what else is generational wealth...$20mm :heh:"

My point was this was a bad buyer, who had no clear plans to support or grow the business, and didn't even pay them or universal. That was a paramount fukk up. And I thought there was more to milk out of the name prior to a peak sale. If they sold it to a better buyer who knew how to make money thru music better like rocnation, revolt, Spotify, or even Google/YouTube, I think the outcome would've been better.

But yeah, I'm not "hold on forever because it's an asset" guy.

Not to sound simplistic but I really believe the pandemic had most of us stuck at home more and since most entertainment venues were shut down everyone tuned in to Verzuz.

I think they assumed why not sell while the stock is high figuratively and cash in

Verzuz has not done a thing since the acquisition shyt is a joke

And now they gotta spend capital to recover the funds they’re rightfully owed

Just a shyt show :smh:

Who cares about verzuz in 2023 :skip:

It had its moment imo

i think they cashed out the right time. It ran its course imo.

It had a shelf life

Covid is over and people are outside again.

Y'all keep saying this as if people aren't talking about hypothetical match ups all the time:

The appetites still there.
