SZA has gotten the online push that could very easily be mistaken for a major label push in this day and age.
And Q has gotten heavily pushed as well, especially with Oxymoron. Also: Jay Rock was the original famous one, he had a popular song with Wayne maybe 8 or 9 years ago, and brought TDE to the forefront.
Q is the real superstar over there if you ask me

Kehlani is the 3rd biggest R&B singer. Crazy I know.
Wow!!

But yeah besides Beyonce and Rihanna it's pretty much Kehlani and Solange lowkey as far as current popular black female singers. I do think the black girl from 5th Harmony has a chance at making some noise if she goes solo though
What does Kehlani's fanbase consist of? I don't pay attention to her music.

shea butter music is an underrated lane.

white people aint supporting black women pop stars like that unless you're rihanna or beyonce. plus they would rather support white women that do their best impression of r&b.

tinashe really has yet to win over black women or women in general. "2 on" had a little buzz in the club but then she got lost in the sauce after that. the only time she gets mentioned is when thirsty nikkas like dj akademiks bring her up.

sza seems to be getting more love from black women, and she should try to pander to that more.
:patrice: I'm starting to understand why Halsey switched up her look to look more white.

I havent checked on Sza in about 6 yrs. She was a dope artist then and not at all sexual. In fact, I think she did 1 interview and she claimed to be an awkward Muslim virgin that smoked weed. When did she switch up?
LOOOOOOOOOL at you for believing that. She has been exposed as being a hoodrat with mad niccas under her belt YEARS ago

I'm actually :dead: at this

She's the epitome of this (my) generation. Fake weird. Trying to be different for the sake of being 'different'. Which is why she can and will switch up because this 'differentness' is not attached to any part of her core personality and is nothing more than marketing

And remember she had that exoticness to her because she was from the Caribbean and had a heavy accent so that added to her appeal.
And i believe she came out towards the end of the 1st Caribbean/Reggaton craze.

Yeah you have a good memory. The mid 00s had alot of that caribbean/reggaton flavor in songs.

I can't remember if it was Jay or LA Reid, but one of them(or both) was smart enough to realize that the caribbean craze was gonna be a short fad(which was right) and they knew if she continued making pon de replays she would flame out. so the album after even before GGGB we got all the "unfaithful" type of songs and then GGGB was dance pop with some songs like the song she had with Ne-Yo.

And actually i think she had input too and wanted to change it up also. Besides the caribbean flavor on the first project she was basically looked too similar to Beyonce and was getting called a Caribbean Beyonce or skinny Beyonce.

Wanted to stand out herself.

then the rest is history.

more female artists need to be themselves.

Why tho? If Black Women alone support an artist they should have no problem selling well, Black women have incredible spending power. Then you already know if they fukk with it the dudes they mess with will to, i think we need to start taking responsibility.

If we want something we should put some money up and show that we want it instead of complaining when something we dont support monetarily fails.

That is why Kanye as big as he is has never really had albums that sold huge amounts. Black women have never really checked for him like that. Maybe it was more before the Graduation era but it became even less after the whole Kim thing and the tons of c00nish comments he has made.

Black women is also why guys like Drake have staying power still.

@Paz the reason why Wu hasn't said anything because its always been an unwritten rule that men shouldn't care when broads "jack styles". I think Cube even had a song back in the day which i forget the name of where he said something similar about how annoying dikk riding men are who do not have their own identity but said something about how if women wanna copy something it doesn't matter.

And not cause they have a p*ssy or anything its just not the same thing because women are followers and i don't even mean that as an insult.

Its not a violation. Wu doesn't care if a broad does something like that. Men are different. If someone were to interview any of the Wu, guaranteed they would repeat what i just said.

I love Tinashe but she never really had a buzz. Her team is awful, along with her label. Most of her songs go to different artists and artists aren't really calling her up for features. They literally forced her to record with Chris Brown for Player.

And as messed up of a label TDE is, they put her on. Her album has been buzzing all weekend. People want to listen to new SZA music, old fans and new. I can't say the same for Tinashe, even as an old/current fan. :francis:

Coli A&R's back at it again trying to tell artists what they should and shouldn't do like y'all have successfully managed an artist before :mjlol:
But Sza's album is really good imo tho :ehh:
Never fails and if the coli hates something that means it's probably gonna be a success .

If her career ended around the disturbia era she would just be the voice behind a bunch of forgettable hits. Like what made her pull so far ahead of Keri Hilson (proven hitmaker), Rita Ora and the like?
:what: the fact that she consistently makes hits that appeal to all demos and has one of the most rabid fanbases maybe?

Pon de replay, SOS, and unfaithful were big hits...umbrella then catapulted her. GGGB was bigger than anything Keri ever did

Coli is the only muthafukkas ive seen giving nagative feedback on this woman & her new album its like you'll love to only be fake ass a&r's for young female r&b singers you'll jackoff off of :stopitslime:

If tinashe dont pop off shes not the first or the last cute r&b singer to flop why does it matter so much to you idiots :what:
