Breh, NOBODY puts Busta Rhymes in a tier with Jay Z and Nas and ya'll only doing it for the sake of this thread. None of you even discuss Busta in that regard. Now that's the real disrespect: posters coming out of the woodwork to put Busta in a tier with Jay and Nas without ever mentioning him in that light before. There are a lot of songs where Busta didn't have the best verse.

Busta isn't in a tier with Jay or Nas because he doesn't do what they do. He isn't going to give you a "I Gave You Power", "Rewind", a "Nas Is Like" or a "Purple". He isn't going to give you a "Dead Presidents", "Where I'm From", "Lyrical Exercise", "You Must Love Me".

Breh, Rakim and Run DMC are all rappers. Rakim is easily the more complex of them. He's revered for lyricism. It takes nothing away from Run DMC.

Busta isn’t on the same tier as Jay-Z or Nas because there are precious precious FEW MC’s who are. Them nikkas are unarguably on Hip Hop’s Mount Rushmore. NOBODY is ever making the argument Busta Rhymes belongs on Hip Hop’s Rushmore. Whens the last time someone argued that Busta was top 5? Hell even top 10?


He’s definitely a legend with a solid catalogue and bonafide HITS but lets not get carried away here

It's insulting to Busta to compare him to Missy. Only thing they got in common are they both got creative music videos. Busta is real an mc going back to early 90s and got hits from every era over his 30 year career. At one point he was on every remix of every hit record. Outside his own joints He got street anthems like ante up, classic 90s like atcq scenario and even modern pop records like look at me now.

Missy popped late 90s and early 2000's with the Timbo sound and that's it. Not even a 10 year run. She only got pop records and is a performer not an mc. Her live shows need 50 background dancers and pyrotechnics to work. She can't pull a Jada kiss and rock a crowd with just a mic and dj but Busta can. It would be a slaughter.

The intersect at more than just Pop/mainstream/R&B ish music.

EVERY song that people KNOW and LOVE Busta Rhymes for is cut from the same cloth as the songs that people KNOW and LOVE Missy Elliott for. A DJ could do a full set of Missy and Busta joints that would pack a dance floor and most of those joints would be Busta's most beloved songs.

The great thing about versus is it reminds people how great artist are and puts some respect on their cataloge. That why you won't have bad takes and silly post like this.

Busta is known equally for his street anthems and harder rap records as much as his pop records. You pretending Like he can't do the classic hook from victory with puff and biggie or his classic verse on the flavor in your ear remix. Dudes talking Like scenario and ante up with mop dont exist.. and get folks hype to this day. Like he can't bring out mystical and perform iz they Wilding with us.. he got even lyrical hits like in the ghetto with Rick James or the on my new york sh*t he could play.
