What is the reaction when u show up to a interview?

"Well, I didn't know you had a beard!"

That was literally said to me at ADP a couple years back. They didn't hire me because "This is a conservative company and your socks and facial hair are not a good fit at the moment."

Nah there are still people out there who are black and proud. It's listening to entertainers and believing that their words are more important than the average person that is the problem.

The issue a lot of people take with Raven Simone's comments is that she doesn't seem to acknowledge or embrace her heritage or her people's struggle.

It's true that white Americans don't have to identify the way black Americans do. We typically don't say "Irish American" or "Italian American" these days.
But they don't have the same stigma nor continue to face the same challenges that African Americans still face.
