welcome to hip-hop 2016.

where being more commercial means that you had the best run.

f*ck it all man. just end this chit already.

so your facts are that ice cube, jay-z & nas werent well past their heyday in 2008 & whenever else they did songs with T.I.?

those are your facts? please tell me more.:lupe:

Again, you're wrong. "Grand Finale" came out in 2004. Nas is still lyrically one of the best and the verse he spit on "Topless" was crazy. Cube's verse on "Grand Finale" wasn't :flabbynsick: either. In fact, it's possible his most memorable verse in recent memory.

youre proving my point actually.

T.I.'s intangibles aint got chit on jeezy & Gucci's.

Gucci can spit just as good as tip when he wants. tip is not all that with his try-hard lyrics. that first verse is a prime example of his forced lyrics. I always wondered who did that beat tho?

T.I. is cool to you? dude was always came off like a cornball.

Ridiculous, post a Gucci verse where he spits as good as T.I at his best:comeon:?If you cant I don't wanna hear about "bu bu but he could if he wanted to:why:"....also you gotta admit yall doin some revisionist shyt in here right now....T.I got embarrassed in the Lil Flip situation? We not talkin about yall lookin back in hindsight after T.I becomes washed up and deciding "Lil Flip was alright,I don't like how that went down:jbhmm:"...I doubt yall was bigger Lil Flip fans than me at that time, and in real time everybody was talkin about how Lil Flip got destroyed, and based on the music he was putting out it was a mercy killing by T.I:mjcry:...The Beef DVD only made Flip come off less embarrassing than he did after that battle, but in no way was T.I embarrassed....not in that situation or the Shawty Lo situation, outside of nikkas who was ready to see T.I fall at that point, nobody gave a damn about Shawty Lo after Dey Know.

Luda temporarily had nikkas laughing at T.I,but funny how time made T.I's Stomp verse far more powerful than Ludas:sas1:....Look at this thread for example "nikka all you get is Rodney Dangerfield:mjcry:"

And who in the streets wasn't fukkin with T.I in his prime:childplease:?I don't think he could've found no street nikkas who didn't listen to T.I,I could've found plenty who didn't listen to Gucci Mane, and I still can today. T.I reached the masses nationwide, and the streets fukked with him HEAVY.

You famous for callin peoples fanbase niche, then wanna act like Gucci had the streets more than T.I....he might not have had the cult like following Jeezy and Gucci had which is hard to get,but he definitel had the streets MORE than Gucci did...Not having a cult following doesn't mean u didn't have the streets, and that you didn't have MORE of the streets.

We cant have this convo until yall go back and listen to Trap Muzic,Urban Legend in its entirety,That Neva Scared verse that started it all:wow:...Yall need to have a flashback or something, these comments slighting T.I are just unbelievable:scust:

and how is this like comparing 50 to DMX,for one that's not the biggest of insults:comeon:,plus it could downplay either one depending on which narrative you CHOOSE to focus on....DMX aint have the streets locked like 50 did,nor did he have the success 50 did....on the flip DMX had the streets and was the superior emcee who made better albums.

you are CHOOSING which narratives to focus on based on who you like,or don't like which would be T.I:sas1:...Either way lets be respectful and not act like T.I don't belong in the convo when really theres only 2 names who don't belong here....One could easily vote for T.I just like they would vote for DMX for being more well rounded, being able to do everything 50 could as well as make better music of substance, unless one chose to not see it that way, which is fine too:sas1:

Its yalls dismissiveness that's not appreciated by T.I fans who witnessed this shyt:ufdup:

I got what he was saying. I didn't need you to explain it. My reply to his analogy was me saying that I wasn't likely to argue in favor of Coolio based on commercial success especially since his standing commercially vs. Pac commercially is arguable.

no it wasn't arguable.

except maybe in pac's last days.

in '95 tho, no contest. coolio was drake.

honestly, I just skimmed thru half of this. your posts are painful to read. maybe its because of the excessive smilies.

lol @ 50 cent having the streets locked like DMX. you've gotta be chittin me. its not a blowout or anything but there were way too many people that didn't f*ck with 50 cent at all, for you to be comparing his run to DMX. as far as success goes, they were about equal. 50 cent sold more records because he made commercial/crossover music, had a bigger machine behind him & joined what was already white America's favorite rap label. plus, his acting career never took off like he wanted. not on the level of DMX. the bolded applies to this debate.

no. I think tip at his best is nicer than Gucci, but on average, Gucci can keep up with dude.

TIP made himself look like a dikkhead in REAL-TIME during that flip situation breh. it aint no hindsight chit about it. we were saying this back then. it may be hindsight to you and whoever you were in agreement with, because yall probably weren't there yet.

I know PLENTY of street niccas that didn't rock with T.I. in his prime. that has nothing to do with this tho.

I never called TIP's fanbase niche. what are you talking about?:dwillhuh: nobody in the poll is niche or cult-like. TIP just didn't have it like them. i'll say this much to your credit tho. when I said Gucci had the streets over tip, I was moreso talking about the southern & Midwest-southern market. i'll give you that one.

Coolio was not no Drake in '95. Coolio had one song that was hot. Pac had several and was selling the same amount of copies as Coolio. Again, you don't know what you're talking about because you're disconnected.

Nas in his entire career has never been lyrically :flabbynsick:. This isn't some rinky dink aiight lyricist we're talking about. We're talking about possibly the greatest lyricist in Hip Hop. To even suggest that 2004 Nas was :flabbynsick: just shows you'll post anything for the sake of argument.

I'm disconnected from what?:mjlol: you take stuff that I say to you, then you try to run it back against me in other threads, when that chit doesn't apply.

coolio had a run spanning thru '94-96. gangstas paradise put him over the top but it wasnt just some dam 1 song. lol. he was the mainstream go-to guy thru the mid-90s. exactly what drake is now.

lol @ 2004 nas with that dry ass double disc. that chit wasn't wavey. outside of his cheap-heat album titles, he hasn't been a factor since.

Act like Pac didn't have a bigger run spanning thru '94-'96 (Pac's run started before '94, but it is what is). In 1995, what other songs did Coolio have in heavy rotation other than "Gangsta's Paradise". Coolio was nowhere near what Drake is now. Drake is a machine. You have huge Pop stars and the biggest rappers getting Drake on their songs. Drake has a plethora of hit songs on his own. And you're comparing Coolio's run in '94-'96 to that (and that's just Drake's 2015).

Nas, lyrically, will always be a factor. You can say what you will about the disc (which is irrelevant, since lyricism is why he was brought up in the first place), but Nas was still spittin' on that album. Nas has been a factor. There's 2011-2012 when rappers were basically paying him to murder them on their own songs.

why are you still arguing? you already showed that youre not even up on coolio, talembout he only had 1 joint.

I'm talking about mainstream America. sure, pac was way bigger in hip-hop. I'm talking mainstream. and that was the guy's point. HE WAS CALLING YOU A COMMERCIAL HEAD. you talking '94. pac in '94 couldn't even get his group to go gold. hell, he was just going gold himself.

as for the coolio/drake comparison, youre comparing 2 different eras. hip-hop is more incorporated into mainstream America, and on the flipside, the culture is dead so "pop rappers" are more accepted in the hip-hop world. drake wouldn't have even been able to exist in coolio's era PERIOD for a multitude of reasons, not just his background.

so yes. coolio was drake for his time. plus coolio had respect both on & off wax before he crossed over.

as for the nas talk, I'm just saying that nas hasn't had a real wave since THEY SHOOTIN. all that other stuff is neither here nor there.
I could pay grandmaster caz to spit the best verse on my album. it doesn't mean that he isn't :flabbynsick: and hasn't had a wave in about 30 years.

Dude compared Coolio to Me Against The World Pac. Tell me in 1995, what other Coolio joint was hot besides "Gangsta's Paradise".

To mainstream America, Pac was still huge. Mind you, Me Against The World made history.

You brought up the Coolio/Drake comparison. Why are you arguing against yourself? Why even use Drake as an example when there's a 20+ year distance between the two?

And again, whether Nas had a wave or not is irrelevant. This was about T.I. holding his own with lyricists. Nas at that point, was and still is considered one of the greatest lyricists in Hip Hop.
