real estate is for non multi millionaires billionaires who want to give their kids something to build. if you got 40 million you should just be putting it in boring ass financial instruments and living on the interest. 1% of 40 million is 400k!
You can live a damn good life for 400k a year and never lose a dime of your principal

I absolutely agree with you, however... 400k isn't enough for these guys to flex the way they'd want to. They see their (probably financially irresponsible) peers' lifestyle and think, "yeah I'm doing that too".

Part of me is sympathetic as well because the culture in music sets these guys up to fail. When the theme is opulence and decadence... Imagine how hard it must be to create records all day that talk about blowing a band every second on these hoes, and then going home to look at your Vanguard account :russ:

But if the very act of giving advice is looked down upon as "hating" or "watching other people's pockets"... Then keep your sob stories.

Tpain easily could have had 40 million. He blew up during the ringtone era. Folks were paying $1 for ringtone back then on top of buying the singles. He was on every major single at one point. He produced a lot of his records too. Yall forgot how big Tpain was. Scott Storch blew threw 100 million back in the day.

You a goddamn moron, Takeshi 6 nine still ain't see his bread from music yet, you know how long it take you to get paid, every time a ring tone sold it didn't go straight into his bank account

I guess you believe Souljah Boy was a mogul too since he was the ring tone king

he didn't not have 40 million dollars in cash at any point in his career, you don't even understand how much money that is

Warren Buffet worth like 60 Billion and probably don't even have 40 million in the bank, his net worth is all in assets and stocks

nikka said he went broke because his manager brought some real estate in the HOOD, and you believe that
you believe real estate in the hood cost 40 million dollars

I swear, people are morons

A Bugatti only cost 1 million dollars, if you paying straight cash, you can get it even cheaper, nobody pays full price for cars when you coming in with pure cash, they want that cash on the spot so they will cut you a deal

His story don't make sense, he never had no damn 40 million, he obviously don't even know how much money had because somebody else controlled his money, the guy is retarded

he probably grossed 40 million over the course of his career before taxes, manager and lawyer fees, and also what he had to pay back to the label

I look at these rappers and singers and it's the same thing, man. Outside of Drake/Cole/Kendrick, just about all these dudes are going to be broke and desperate in a few years. They're burning money faster than they're bringing it in, and if they're investing it's in dumb shyt. And nobody is helping them. Not family, not friends, and CERTAINLY not the label. There's less money in music rn than there was when T-Pain started winning, so imagine how much harder these current dudes are gonna crash...

The great thing about rap/singer/sports money is you get a lot in lump sums (assuming you're successful). All these dudes gotta do is do the most basic investments and they'll be set for life. He says he had 40mil in the bank at one point. Nevermind that the FDIC only guarantees $250k lmao. See why that's stupid?
:mjlol:

Put half that into an index fund and leave it alone. By the time you're not hot anymore as an artist or retire as an athlete, you'll be set for life (assuming you aren't stupid). If you want to invest in real estate, focus on rental properties. "Flipping houses" is all the rage but that shyt is hit or miss, and the market gets wiped out by recessions. You know what stays firm? Rental properties. You buy a duplex or 4 room place, hire someone to manage it (ie collect rent, handle repairs, etc) and you're good. The money won't be insane...but it's steady cash flow...which is what you should want. Once you got that shyt locked in and figure everything out...buy another. Then another. Keep going until you feel like you're at a good amount.

I know a dude who just sold all his rental properties within the last couple years. Older black dude...at one point he had nearly 30 rental properties. The hassle was too much for him, since he did everything himself (including repairs) instead of hiring out. He's a quiet millionaire. Imagine if you started doing that in your 20s or 30s, before "retiring" in your late 60s like he did. Insane money...
Hopefully not but I feel out of Drake/Cole/Kendrick somebody will have some financial issues. Every era has that artist they didn't think it would happen too

Takeshi was a flash in the pan artist and only 1 record that qualified as a hit. Even then it didn't top the charts.

Tpain was at the top of the game and the biggest hip hop artist out at one point. He made top of the game type money. Had #1 records. Had a label deal at one point as well. You couldn't turn on the radio without hearing him on a record.Since Tpain writes, produces and performs he was getting a lot more money from records and publishing. Folks like you dont even understand how much hit records make. During the that Robin Thicke and Pharrell lawsuit it came out that blurred lines generated 16 million so far with Pharrell and thicke taking 5 million a piece. That's just off 1 hit record. Outside of his own hits he was featured on the biggest hits from Flo rida, chris brown, jamie foxx etc. Not many artist will ever see the success tpain had.

Old article about the Tpain running the ringtone game. Yall forgot how crazy that era was. Article states that ringtones at one point made up 40% of labels digital revenue. And Tpain was the top ringtone artist of 2007. He sold 4 million ringtones off 1 single ( Buy you a drink) in 5 months.

And Souljah did indeed cash out on ringtones. This is well known. Where did you think he made all his money?

I never said Takeshi made as much as T pain, CAN YOU READ

I stated he couldn't possible have 40 milllion a one time, because of the way payments are delayed to artist

everything you wrote is completely irrelevant to my post

Superstar artist in their prime can sign huge record and publishing deals which give them millions up front. Adele got over 100 million upfront for hers. The labels and publishers collect the money back over time in these cases.

He also had a label deal and a separate ringtone deal.

I'm glad I don't have expensive taste.
I don't care about clothes, jewelry, or cars. If I got a lump sum I would just pay off my debt/family debt get and get a new Subaru or something. I would not know what to do with the rest of the money but I doubt I would blow it all on take out and video games (my vices).

T-Pain definitely blew a lot of his money on dumb shyt but the bigger issue is people think investing is some sexy thing when it’s not. They hear some story about a real estate flipper blowing up, or some angel investor that caught a lick on a startup going public and think they can do that too because they got money. Hell even stocks even. nikkas think they can toss some bread in some weed stock and be cool. Then they go broke and wonder why.
.
True safe investment are not sexy. Mutual funds, REIT’s, bonds and dividend paying blue chip stocks are slow. They earn regular interest and take a lot of time to grow. That’s why most people ignore them. The other side to is he didn’t need to invest because he already had the bread investors dream to make.

This. This. This. Nothing happens quickly when building wealth.

Embarrassing. I doubt he ever had 40 mil as his bank balance at any single point. Probably what he estimated he cumulatively received over his entire career. Regardless though, it’s embarrassing to see someone throw away that much money.
