Usher: “Man you fukked up music with auto tune.”

Meanwhile:

Usher had ALOT of nerve to tell that man that. Then he goes out there and jacks his style to get a hit record.

Just sounds like to me Usher was hating cause his shyt wasn’t popping like that no more and he was relying on that pop/EDM shyt like anybody gave a damn about that.

And if we really keeping it funky, Usher hasn’t reached the same heights musically as “Confessions” and ever since then he has been trying to repeat that moment for the rest of his career.

Let’s not forget when he tried to “fit in” with the trap genre and dropped that forgettable Zaytoven project.

IDK why that clip irked me so much but Usher had ALOT of nerve to GET somebody to wake that man out of his sleep. Bring him over and tell him that his genre of music is making it “bad” for “real singers.”

Lets clear up one big misconception about the term "autotune"

Autotune has been in music since before T-pain ever released a track
Every sound engineer autotunes the vocals to match up with the desired key.

What T-pain did was use autotune in a way that you are not supposed to use it for. He did not use it to match a barely off key to the desired frequency.

He used to to take a G and turn it into a B. T-Pain purposefully distorted it to have a desired robotic sounding effect. He did not turn a G into a B because a G was the closest he could get to a B while singing naturally. He's not THAT trash :comeon:

He did it because he liked the distorted sound :manny:

This whole notion that he introduced Autotune to music is asinine. If you have ever heard any studio recording of any vocals from the late 90s onward, you have heard autotune. :martin:

And with the increased processing power of modern computers, Autotune is not relegated to studio recording. It can be done live, and is done live.

TLDR: Once again.. every singer in every genre uses autotune

All the songs that made T Pain blow up would still be jammin without autotune. Autotune was just added flavor to an already good dish. Just because the labels did what they always do and just copy whatever is hot doesn't mean you should blame the person who sparked the trend. Them crackers told you you HAD to put autotune on your record for the song to be hot. Not T Pain. Blame them.
