"D'Evils" is one of the illest songs hip hop has ever produced in my opinion. Jigga and Premier at their peaks, and the sampling on the hook was so ill.

Nas explains here:

http://rapgenius.com/638476

Nas was inspired by reading Donald Goines and Robert Beck aka “Iceberg Slim”’s accounts of the pimp life in the 40s and 50s when he wrote this line

To be clear, “blood money” is money that gets handed down to future generations of a family, hence the pimp’s cum, which is the future generation (the receiver of the blood money).

thats no explanation though. Point blank the line doesnt make sense. This is why I dont really fukk with naS. His entire catalog is filled with shyt like that. shyt like "If I Ruled the World" makes sense... not lyrically masterful like "D'Evils" but it makes sense.

My bad, I edited my post and included the explanation. It clears up the metaphor. Nas was more talking about what inspired that line in the link I posted. And come on, the line actually makes sense when you think about it.

Besides, you're a Lupe fan, you should be used to these kind of metaphors...

Devils is the better song tbh, its not even the production but just the way the raw n grim filled lyrics compliment those piano keys, it brings everything full circle, Nas lost this round tbh

D'evils is probably Camels bestsong tho so its not really saying much comparing it to a mid tier Nas track. Its also funny how camels music was more fleshed out and mature is his early 30s than the shyt he is making now in his late 50s

Take It In Blood, but D'evils is one of Jigga's best tracks and Premo's better beats, it's pretty close

Its not THAT impressing to me, but its still better than anything in the other track... which is the point. The Jay shyt is just so far ahead of muthafukkaz lyrically that I find the comparison insulting. The way Jay built the shyt and executed the whole track is on some masterful shyt.

i love that line. now this higher learning got the remy in me :lawd:

but Nas has some disgusting lines in take it in blood no way can one line in devils be better than the entire song.

I really like the devils beat better, but they both kill it pretty evenly in the lyrics department.
