A lot of these artists were iconic artists and many of them were murdered BEFORE rap even existed as a genre. Some of them were murdered while performing their occupation: music, yet I see people talking about rap is the most dangerous occupation as if rappers are getting killed at the shows, in the studio, or while performing or making music.

Because it has nothing to do with Hip Hop or the kind of music created. Look at that list, those people were still murdered and they didn't make violent music.

Marvin Gaye made one of the greatest albums of all time in What's Going On. Powerful music that forced us to think about and analyze the world around us. He got murdered, but he sang about love. Sam Cooke? Murdered. John Lennon authored "Imagine". He was murdered. Peter Tosh. Murdered.
