Alright, so I want to join, but I don't wanna do combat. I'm intelligent and plan on furthering my education. So, what spots are available? Plus, I do wanna get into politics later in my life even though that's irrelevant.Don't let movies tell you how the military works
There's tons of support and technical jobs in all branches. I know for a fact that anything dealing with unmanned aviation is outstanding when transitioning back to civilian work.
If you're planning on pushing your education while you're in, be absolutely sure you're lining up a job that is not going to put you in the field too often. Classes while you're in and on tuition assistance are something a lot of guys miss out on.
If you're going politics... I mean, military experience is a free foot in the door. Just google through some jobs and get a general idea of what's out there for you. You can honestly do most of a recruiters job before you ever go in to meet one.
Aight and thanks for the info. I want to do something with my life, so I may join the military as a start.
Just make sure you use the military more than it uses you. You'll always come out ahead if you keep that in mind

On another tip, if you can get the same sort of training on the outside without enlisting, the job is bullshyt. Also the branches are in this order:
Air Force
Navy
Army
Marines.
This goes for quality of living, and job potential.

Unless you have kids, try to go active. More benefits , better training
You will have a wide selection of choices. You should consider technical jobs that deal with IT and communication systems. You will want a job that requires a security clearance. You can serve for a couple of years and get a civilian job that requires a security clearance doing the same thing that you did in the service making 6 figures. Thats what I did.
Make sure that you take full advantage of educational benefits also.

If you score high on the ASVAB you may have a pick of your first duty assignment. Make sure its in your contract. Duty stations vary from service to service and availability of picking a certain base depends on your job skill. Some assignments are better than others. Your quality of life depends on your branch and job skill. The Air Force has the best quality of life. If you have a technical job or you're in a medical job your quality of life will be better all around. Pick a overseas duty assignment while you're young and don't have any attachments. It will be more fun and great life experience.
