Trying new things is all well and good, but at some point the execution has to actually come through. Considering that XII (I guess people might say X) is the last good NEW Final Fantasy and that came out almost 20 years ago.
Tales of Beseria is a good JRPG and much better than anything FF has put out during that time. It's more of a comfort series. Though Tales of Arise was ass lowkey.
With that being said, Dragon Quest, SMT+Persona & Xenoblade are the main best modern JRPG franchises right now. Add Monster Hunter & Souls stuff if you include RPG's made by Japanese developers.

FF rebirth is better than every Tales game out.

What? It's better in almost every way. Never enjoyed a tales game more than Rebirth. Tales of Arise was okay from what I played.

Naw even if it’s not the ff7 sequel you wanted it’s an objectively better game in anlmost every aspect than any tales game.
Battle system, music, graphics and art direction, production value, open world design, characters you actually care about etc
That's just one scene. The overall game was enjoyable. These small things don't make the game somehow not good.

I dont play rpgs just for the gameplay, if so id go play an action game
Its a sum of its parts, if I gotta choose between a stretched out trilogy with better graphics and a faster action system
Im playing the original because of the better tone and story
I didnt even mention the stupid time travel dimension shenanigans

Rebirths story as dumb as it gets in parts is still far more enjoyable than a Tales Of game lol
I played like four of those games and not one story or character besides the wolf with the eyepatch stand out to me in anyway
