Hate to say it but you're almost done with the game...this one was shorter than most tales games. At that point they basically give you a chance to finish any subquests you care about, and then you just head to the last dungeon.

But yeah, game was very average to me. The combat system was decent but the story and characters were just
I just killed the big ass dragon. I had a feeling I was getting close to the end.

I'm ~32 hours in.

I didn't do every side quest but I did like 60% of them. Whenever I talked to rose I had ~2 "pages" of dialogue options for side quests.

The combat system was alright. Once you figure out the equipment/skill system and to take advantage of the elemental weakness and using the right party members it got a lot easier for me. I was getting my as kicked trying to button mash against bosses until I took the time to figure out what I was doing :heh:

I'm just playing on normal. I'm just getting back into jrpgs so I don't want to play games on hard yet.

Probably gonna finish it off tonight

I hope to god they don't use the same levelling/skill/equipment system.on berseria since apparently it's a "prequel" in the same world

To be absolutely 100.... Berseria looks better than FF15 and the new Star Ocean
It has a main female protagonist though. Those are hard to pull off in JRPGs so most don't try. I've only ever seen one game do it exceptionally well (Trails in the Sky) and Xenosaga was decent. Outside of that I can't remember any games with a female main protagonist unless you add in ensemble games like Final Fantasy VI and XIII.

I doubt the protagonist in Berseria could be any worse/more boring than Sorey or Jude. :manny:

In fact, in Xillia almost everybody liked Milla better than Jude (mainly because Jude was really boring and had no backstory).

That's such an odd stance considering how many outright AWFUL male JRPG leads are out there. If anything, female leads show that the studio isn't out to play to that dweeb otaku persona that is astoundingly profitable to market to. Lately, Tales has done a great job with overall casts too - at least in comparison to all of the other big JRPG devs out there.
I didn't mind sorey all that much. :yeshrug:

He was better than Jude anyway
Sorey was fine, it was just the overall story that 'limited' him.

Jude stays a twerp through both Xillia games.

I thought Sorey was boring. Edna was the only standout character in the game. Most Tales main protagonist suck though. The only good one I can remember is in Tales of Vesperia.

Edna is definitely the best part of the game. She constantly cracks me up.

Without her I don't even want to think how boring the skits would be.

Tales generally has decent all-around casts.

Except Graces. Dear lord I wanted them all dead in a plane crash aside from Pascal

Honestly I didn't think the Graces cast was that bad...Asbel was boring as usual for a Tales protagonist (and I especially hated him as a kid) but I thought the rest of them were ok. :yeshrug:

Albel was the WOAT for me. At every opportunity, he would put the entire fate of the world second to his fwiends. His crew should've shot him.

i never finished graces because of how bad the story and writing was (all tales games besides abyss have average anime stories but this one was just disgustingly bad) i like the combat for graces tho.
