Beautiful album. One of my favorite of all time. The vibes I get from re-listening to it throws me back into my high school days, perhaps more than any other album. It was a wonderful soundtrack to first dates, losing my virignity, breaking up, playing PS2 games, becoming "woke" or learned on ideologies I still hold today, meeting friends that shared a similar taste in hip hop, writing poems, raps, and short stories, reading poems and short stories, getting college acceptance letters, etc. This album, and specific songs like Love Language, Four Women, Memories Live, Africa Dream, Too Late, Good Morning and Down For The Count remind me of all of those things.
It's one of the reasons I can't ever agree with the "Talib has always sucked" sentiment that has become prevalent on here. I'm not a big fan of a lot of his other stuff without Hi-Tek (the beats on here
), but Blackstar and Train of Thought are treasures to me.
